It has been so long since we posted. Happy 2023. I have been reading articles about practices experiencing data breaches through hacking and other electronic means. I encourage every practice we work with to consult with your IT team to make sure you have a good backup plan and a disaster recovery plan in place should such a horrible event happen to your practice. A little planning offers great peace of mind.

So much has changed for us in recent times. We have spent much of the last year ramping up additional services provided by MJPHC. We continue to help practices with electronic health records and migrations. Our service offerings have grown to include credentialing, coding, and revenue support services. We now assist over 15 practices on a continual basis and many others as needed. Our company continues to expand as well as we now employee 11 people and continue to grow.

As we emerge from the COVID crazyness, what are your business plans moving forward. As healthcare organizations, we need to step back and assess our goals moving forward in the post-COVID world. Embracing electronic communication with patients should be a tool all practices are embracing.

Hope everyone had a great holiday season and new year. It has been to long since we have had a chance to post. With COVID retreating (hopefully forever!!!), many practice are concentrating on getting back to normal. This means preventive visits and routine care. One major change in most practices' business is telehealth. As your practice continues to use this technology, here are some recomendations:

1. See if your EMR vendor has an integrated solution to make your visits easier for your patient.
2. Create a template to capture all pertinent information needed to bill a telehealth visit.
3. make sure your billing department is reviewing those visits.

CMS has hinted that the payments for telehealth will tighten as we move out of the pandemic. Make sure your practice is documenting correctly to ensure payment as the payment model changes in the future.

As vaccinations increase and our world returns to a closer sense of normal, now is the time to evaluate your patient workflows in your practice. Many practices are still running at a reduced capacity of physical appointments. Do you plan to go back to that same number and workflow? Was that flow efficient for your practice. Many of you have not had the opportunity to slow patient volume down and assess the best workflow. Take some time and review the balance between in-office and telehealth appointment and rebuild provider schedules to meet new demands.

The same process should be followed for patient visits, documentation, and billing. Everyone has the opportunity to assess these workflows before returning to full capacities and make necessary changes. Most practices have never had this time or opportunity in the past

Every practice should also be reviewing documentation and billing under CMS's 2021 guidelines. Insurance companies have indicated they will be conducting audits in 2021 and every practice should prepare for these eminent audits. The best way to prepare is to do an internal or 3rd party audit.

Hello all. It’s been a while since our last post. A blessing to MJP Healthcare Consulting and our employees is that business has picked up. We are seeing practices figure out patient volumes during Covid and beyond. If your practice has not embraced tele-medicine workflows, I suggest looking soon. The telemedicine wave has hit and the technology improved very fast. Tele-medicine has allowed practices to fill the gaps for in-office visits. Practices can also maintain contact with their most vulnerable patients in a safe manner.

If you have not prepared for the 2021 CMS changes to coding and documentation we suggest you take a look at those changes soon. They take effect January 1,2021. We have staff ready to take questions or help with training if needed.

As we approach the end of the year, let us know if your practice needs any assistance with strategic planning or Intergy workflow changes.

Has your practice embraced telehealth? COVID19 has accelerated the use of various telehealth technologies. Many practices are finding these technologies to be an effective way to keep provider schedules full while maintaining social distancing in the waiting room. Alternating between in person and virtual visits is a good way to stagger patients and stay busy. Another trend in telehealth is to contact patients on a waiting list and schedule a quick virtual visit when a provider has a cancellation. This has greatly increased productivity for many providers.
