Today is and also the season of celebrating the birth of our wonderful Savior Jesus Christ. We thought what better time then to reach out and express the new season for Destiny Point!
Through much prayer, we feel that the season has changed for Destiny Point. What we know is that God hasn't changed and that our main focus of us ministering to women hasn't changed.
My needs in my personal life has changed. My husband is now disabled. And we are blessed to have our daughter and granddaughter living with us. I feel that God is calling me to be home more, to be the wife, mom and grandma that I need to be. The residential program required me to be on site 24 hours a day, a minimum of 4 days a week.
God hasn't brought us a live-in home manager which is very much needed for the type of residential program we provided.
We believe that God is calling us to do a new thing with our beautiful facility.
We will be facilitating 5-day women's Freedom Retreats. It's a way for women to step away from their regular rhythms of life, to connect with Jesus, and dive into the core principles taught to our ladies in our residential program.
Over the years we have come across many people struggling, looking for help and wishing they could attend our residential program but through various reasons could not attend. We began asking God to reveal new ways we could interact with people who are looking for healing and change, but to do retreats along side the residential program is virtually impossible because there would not be room to have both.
We all know people, even in our churches who struggle with depression, anxiety, hopelessness, Insecurity, pain, loss, grief, and weariness. Not even experiencing any major addiction or stronghold but feeling overwhelmed by life. These things affect people everywhere. In truth, at one time or another we have all struggled. And when you look at the condition of what's going on in the world, outside circumstances may not change but we can have that peace that passes all understanding through our Lord Jesus Christ. Sometimes we just need a place where we can feel safe to laugh together, cry together, encourage and validate each other, grow and change.
We believed we could serve more people in a shorter amount of time, with 5 day retreats than we did with our residential program. The focus being on healing and freedom in Christ!
The principles that will be shared at the Freedom Retreats have been taught since we began Destiny Point women's home. And the Keys to Freedom Study has been taught as one of our classes for approximately 4 years.
The Keys to Freedom study was developed by Mercy Ministries in Tennessee.. it is a discipleship study, which was released in 2017. They have started their own 5-day retreats that began 2022. A few of us attended one of their retreats and they are life changing!
The keys of Freedom study was a huge part of women being transformed at Destiny Point and God is going to use it mightily through our Freedom retreats.
We'll walk women through the core principles, including Hearing from God, Healing Life’s Hurts, forgiveness, Renewing the Mind, and Using Your Authority in Christ. (Who couldn't benefit from all this!)
At the Retreats we will include daily worship, teaching sessions, small group discussions along with time to reflect and process things with the Lord, rest, and relax.
We will be able to welcome women from all stages of life, ages 18 to 80+! Recent highschool and college graduates, stay-at-home moms, businesswomen, grandmothers, women serving in pastoral ministry, etc...
Some women will come to the retreat feeling far from God. Others have experienced a close walk with God but simply want more.
Regardless of age or background, we believe that the Lord will meet these women in powerful, and sometimes very unexpected ways. Attending these retreats will give women a way to slow down and take time to process and look at their relationship with God and their lives.
We're looking to have some Freedom Retreats set aside just for women pastors, pastor's wives and women in leadership. Sometimes women in these positions don't have a mentor or someone they feel they can safely talk to, this retreat would provide the fellowship and support they so desire and need.
Because of generous donors, we hope to make the Freedom Retreats affordable for everyone. And provide sponsors for those that just aren't able to afford it. We will be able to accommodate up to 10 individuals comfortably at each retreat. All food and lodging are provided.
Aside from the Freedom Retreats, we're looking at hosting Outreach Retreats. Through these retreats we will be making our facility available to host other Christian: organizations, small groups and churches to do their own retreats.
We will provide support to these retreats such as meals, cleaning, preparing rooms etc.
We're also looking at opening the home up to pastors who need a time of sabbatical and full-time missionaries who need a temporary place to stay while in the USA.
You all have been so supportive of Destiny Point! We are blessed by your continued support, now and through the new season that we're beginning.
We're still doing mentoring, maintaining a blessing box that is open to the community, have therapeutic animals and have offered our home temporarily to a family that experienced a fire, also making all the changes associated with the new vision and everything needed to maintain the home and property.
Donations have gone down drastically for Destiny Point. I know there are so many wonderful organizations to give to so we appreciate even the smallest gifts 🤗! Every gift is a blessing!
