November is a month for gratitude and giving!

Supporting local food pantries doesn’t just fill shelves - it strengthens our entire community. When families have access to food and essentials, they can focus on healing, connection, and hope.

Giving back helps everyone - including you! Giving helps those in need and helps boost your mood, reduce stress, build connections, improve perspective, and even supports physical health.

Let’s care for one another this season.

Beat the Winter Blues with a Little Self-Care

Shorter days and colder weather can make it easy to feel low on energy or motivation - you’re not alone! Winter blues are common, and small self-care habits can make a big difference.

🌤️ Get outside when you can - even a few minutes of sunlight helps.
🤝 Stay connected with friends and loved ones.
🏃‍♀️ Move your body - gentle exercise boosts mood and energy.
🕯️ Take time to rest and recharge.

Remember: taking care of yourself isn’t selfish - it’s essential. Let’s look out for our mental health this winter and for each other.

The fall season symbolizes reflection, renewal, and the acceptance of natural cycles, fostering mental well-being, encouraging new routines, and providing a unique connection to nature's beauty. Shorter days and a change in the weather provide the perfect mix for productivity and focus, creating a perfect time to set goals, learn, and let go of the past in order to get ready for new beginnings.

We are proud to share that Jennifer (Jen) Cardwell has received the Don Greene Guiding Light Award - a true reflection of her heart, leadership, and passion for recovery.

In just three years, Jen has transformed Peer Services at Four County Mental Health Center - growing the program from fewer than 2 full-time staff and under 500 events a year to over 17 full-time staff and more than 2,000 events last year!

Jen’s leadership has been instrumental in integrating peer support into Crisis Services, Children’s Services, and Substance Use Disorder treatment, while also training dozens of peers across our organization. Her advocacy has reached state and national levels, improving both the quality and reach of care for communities across Southeast Kansas.

Jen leads with compassion, courage, and purpose - always putting people first. Join us in celebrating this well-deserved honor!

It’s Red Ribbon Week which is a reminder of the importance of living drug-free and making healthy choices. Saying “no” to drugs means saying “yes” to your dreams, your health, and your future.

At Four County, we’re proud to support prevention, awareness, and encouragement for our youth and community. Together, we can build a brighter, healthier future.

Let’s cheer each other on to stay strong and drug-free!
