The peace, calmness, and quiet of cemeteries has always drawn me since I was a child visiting my family's graves with my parents at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Rochester, NY. Yet, visiting the tombs of my ancestors in Italy is always so emothional because it puts me where my family began, at least from within the last 200 or so years. These ancient places give me a sense that we may not know exactly who, what or where is our beginning, but we do know, there is no real end. Life continues and as long as a memory is there in someone's mind, those who left our physical place, never really die. They remain with us.
