It’s been a magical month at our Supportive Housing sites. Our team loves creating holiday joy with their residents. Decorating gingerbread houses, Santa and Mrs. Claus visits, a Paint Night, a performance by a group of resident singers and more – here are some photos of the highlights!

Merry Christmas from MVES to all who celebrate! We leave you with some festive scenes from our Integrated Care Team’s holiday party. Their energy and creativity is always applied to their holiday party, including the song that Inna and Yenny composed and performed for the occasion! In lieu of Secret Santa this year, the team chose to collect funds for a local organization. They raised $600 for Malden Warming Center — you can see MVES Integrated Care Director Amy Cataldo (left) presenting the donation to MWC Assistant Director Katie Dillon (right) in the 2nd photo.

Last week, we received a wonderful surprise. A team of care managers at Mystic Valley Elder Services had decided to forgo their Secret Santa gift exchange and instead pool their funds to support the Malden Warming Center. They arrived with a card signed by their entire staff and a donation of over $600.

This week, teams from Mystic Valley Elder Services lent a hand to Feed the Funnel, a food security project organized by Encore Boston Harbor. Nonprofits, businesses and individuals helped the Encore team in packing meals for distribution. It’s a three-day event that happens twice a year, and each time, about 500,000 meals are packed. They go to local organizations like Bread of Life and The Greater Boston Food Bank. It’s a great effort and our team loved supporting it!

So many reasons to be merry! Our 50th anniversary events brought us to Melrose this week, where we teamed up with the Milano Center’s annual holiday event at Memorial Hall. The POMtastics, a cheer squad of older adults, energized the crowd. DJ Alan LaBella’s tunes brought everyone to the dancefloor and the Milano Singing Group had everyone singing along to their holiday favorites. We had a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus with gifts distributed by Elves from the MVES Board. Plus giveaways, raffles, catered lunch and much more! We’d like to thank everyone who made it a wonderful day in , including:
❄️ Special guests who helped us celebrate 50 years of building an Melrose: State Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Mayor Jen Grigoraitis and Em Sheeran from the Office of Senator Jason Lewis
❄️MVES Board members Kristin Ahlman, Janice Donatelli, Mike Festa, Carole Lowenstein, Edward Miller, Jim Oosterman, Brian Snell and Judie VanKooiman
❄️Our fantastic sponsor, ABC Home Healthcare Professionals

The only thing better than a trip to the Museum of Science, Boston? Getting the VIP treatment! Our Supportive Housing team coordinated this trip for residents of four of our partner sites with Malden Housing Authority. Mystic Valley Elder Services asked and the museum did more than say yes, they provided a wonderful adventure! Our group was treated to a tour of the museum exhibits, an incredible OMNI Theater show, and an animal presentation with Frances the Leopard Tortoise, and even lunch and transportation. To Michael Adams and the rest of the Museum of Science, we are so grateful for this special day, and to Magan Transport, we appreciate you and your wonderful drivers. We’d also like to recognize the MVES Supportive Housing team who worked so hard to make this day possible.

Our conference room got a temporary makeover this week. We are calling it Mystic Valley Café because we had a surprise pancake station for our team! Our leadership and HR team arranged for this tasty surprise. They offered every flavor you could think of and they even flipped the pancakes like pros. For those who don’t like pancakes, there were lots of other treats on offer, and coffee of course. It was a sweet way to celebrate our team and give them a smile!
