Our Legislative Breakfast today reminded us how powerful our community can be when stories, data and dedicated leaders come together to support older adults and people with disabilities. Our CEO, Lisa Gurgone, highlighted our legislative priorities. Our Legislative Co-Hosts were MA Representative Jeffrey Turco and Mary Ann Nay, District Director for State Senator Bruce Tarr. Representative Turco spoke movingly about his family’s caregiving journey and how Mystic Valley helped his mother‑in‑law remain at home. He encouraged leaders to “be fierce advocates” for families who rely on these vital supports.
We also heard a story of love and resilience from Frank Oullette and Colleen Molloy — Colleen’s stroke at age 53, a lengthy nursing facility stay, and how Mystic Valley assisted their journey to a new, safer home with support for both. Dozens of legislators and city and town officials joined us, sharing their own insights and reinforcing the need to invest in essential community‑based programs.
A heartfelt thank‑you to all who attended, including: State Senator Sal DiDomenico, Senator Pat Jehlen, Em Sheeran from the Office of Senator Jason Lewis, Christine Barber - State Representative, State Representative Paul Donato, State Representative Richard M. Haggerty, State Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Staff for State Representative Brad Jones, State Representative Joe McGonagle, Steve Ultrino for State Representative, Everett Mayor Robert Van Campen, Malden Mayor Gary Christenson, Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, Melrose Mayor Jennifer Grigoraitis, and North Reading Town Administrator Michael Gilleberto.
