Hello everyone! Welcome back to a fully in person, on campus semester.
Here is an email forwarded to me (and now to you all!) to anyone interested in earning a Master of Science in Anesthesia!
~~~
Hello –
My name is Rich Bassi, I am the Program Director for the Anesthesiologist Assistant Program within the Indiana University School of Medicine. I am reaching out to educate those in the state of Indiana and surrounding areas about our profession in hopes of recruiting for our program and profession.
Our program offers a Master of Science in Anesthesia. The program consists of 7 continuous semesters over 28 months. Our students have a pre-med background and have a similar education curriculum to Physician Assistants. Upon graduation, our students will work in the operating room as a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) as part of the Anesthesia Care Team with a Physician (similar to the manner in which PAs work with a physician in their scope of practice.)
This is a brief video describing our profession: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0C1juy0Eyc&feature=emb_logo
Below you can see the quality of students that we admit into our Program. Our graduates average salary ranges from $140,000 to $175,000 depending on the location of their employment.
I am not sure if you are familiar with our program or profession. I would be happy to talk via phone, Zoom, or even visit your campus to discuss our MSA Program and the CAA Profession.
Additionally, I am not sure exactly with whom I should speak about our recruitment efforts, but I would appreciate if you could put me in touch with your advisors who help guide students in their career decisions. If we have contacted you in the past, we are also trying to make sure we have the most up-to-date information in our system to better communicate.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Richard Bassi, MMSc, MEd, CAA
