Hello everyone! Welcome back to a fully in person, on campus semester.

Here is an email forwarded to me (and now to you all!) to anyone interested in earning a Master of Science in Anesthesia!

~~~
Hello –
My name is Rich Bassi, I am the Program Director for the Anesthesiologist Assistant Program within the Indiana University School of Medicine. I am reaching out to educate those in the state of Indiana and surrounding areas about our profession in hopes of recruiting for our program and profession.
Our program offers a Master of Science in Anesthesia. The program consists of 7 continuous semesters over 28 months. Our students have a pre-med background and have a similar education curriculum to Physician Assistants. Upon graduation, our students will work in the operating room as a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) as part of the Anesthesia Care Team with a Physician (similar to the manner in which PAs work with a physician in their scope of practice.)
This is a brief video describing our profession: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0C1juy0Eyc&feature=emb_logo
Below you can see the quality of students that we admit into our Program. Our graduates average salary ranges from $140,000 to $175,000 depending on the location of their employment.
This is a link to our Program Website: https://medicine.iu.edu/anesthesia/education/ms
I am not sure if you are familiar with our program or profession. I would be happy to talk via phone, Zoom, or even visit your campus to discuss our MSA Program and the CAA Profession.
Additionally, I am not sure exactly with whom I should speak about our recruitment efforts, but I would appreciate if you could put me in touch with your advisors who help guide students in their career decisions. If we have contacted you in the past, we are also trying to make sure we have the most up-to-date information in our system to better communicate.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Richard Bassi, MMSc, MEd, CAA
Hey everyone. We are on the homestretch for the end of the semester and many of us are ready for summer!
While I am the proud Co-Vice President of the IUSB Pre-Health Professional Club, I am also the proud acting president of the IUSB Botany Club and we have some great news to share with all of you. While many clubs have been inactive due to Covid, we have been busy gardeners, planting 500 various plants to give away to IUSB staff/faculty and students right in our own Northside Hall green house!
Pasted below is the announcement posted on TitanAtlas for our giveaway of plants. Please feel free to pick up a plant or two and/or spread the word across campus to your fellow students. We have lots to give away and many different plant and veggie starters that can be put straight into the ground!
~~~

When: Thursday, May 6, 1-3pm; Friday, May 7, 10am-noon (if supplies last)
Where: Central campus mall

The IUSB Botany Club wishes to thank employees and students for persevering through this difficult year. Plants available:

Veggies: basil, okra, peppers (sweet & jalapeño), summer squash (zucchini), tomatoes (cherry, Roma, regular slicing), watermelon

Standard garden annuals: calendula, four-o-clock, nasturtium, marigold, sunflower

Native perennials: New England aster, purple coneflower, prickly pear cactus

Plants are seedlings, but have solid roots and a growth mindset. Supplies are limited: one pepper plant + one additional plant per person. Masking required. If plants are gone on Thursday, the Friday giveaway will be cancelled.

Have a great rest of the semester, keep active and healthy, and come see us for some wonderful plants!

Last Thursday-Saturday was a great volunteer experience at the IUSB Arrival Testing.

Many volunteers came to be apart of the process, all handling different roles and responsibilities while giving back to their community.

Featured in the photos are our two co-Vice Presidents Lina Marchi and Hannah Shank, as well as Pre-Health Professional Club member Rana Hamad.

Join us in participating in more volunteering opportunities to do our part and be active members of the community while proudly representing not just our club, but IUSB!

Hello everyone! My name is Hannah Shank and I am one of the co-vice presidents for the IUSB Pre-Health Professional Club. I am also a member of the new IUSB Botany Club!

This is an announcement posted both on the Biochem Club Canvas page as well as the IUSB Pre-Health Professional Club Canvas page, but now you can see it here as well.

Greeting to all botany nerds and science lovers,

The IUSB Botany Club was formed in March of 2020, just before the campus shutdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. While several events were planned throughout the spring and summer of 2020, none of the events came to fruition.

As we approach 2021, students are working to revive the club, starting with an experiment called “Plants Get Sick, Too," studying plant pathogens in potatoes (and other fruits or veggies you’d like to experiment with).

This is a simple experiment anyone can do without having to leave the comfort and safety of their own home. All it requires are a few materials, such as potatoes, toothpicks, bleach, and zip-loc plastic bags. If you are interested in participating, please feel free to join the experimental group this Wednesday, December 30, at 3 pm, using this Zoom link:

Meeting ID: 876 6125 0329 Password: 420734

If you are interested in participating, but can't join the meeting, please send an email to Dr. Andrew Schnabel: aschnab@iusb.edu.

For those generally interested in helping us revive the Botany Club, we will hold our first planning meeting for the spring semester on Wednesday, January 6, at 3 pm. Same link as above.
