Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program with a purpose of fostering human connection, community, and hope. Thousands of schools across the United States and Canada benefit from Hope Squads, with more than 1,250,000 students positively impacted annually. This week, McFarland High School Hope Squad student leaders and advisors participated in the 2026 Mental Wellness Student Leadership Summit hosted by the Wisconsin Office of Children’s Mental Health.

Hope Squad Members had the opportunity to share their voices on important mental health topics, learn from keynote speakers, present their ideas, and connect with peers who are passionate about creating safer, more supportive schools.

Their student-designed hammock garden offers a calm, welcoming place to relax and reset before school, during lunch, or with teacher permission throughout the day. With this special area, Hope Squad helps spread the message that taking a moment to slow down isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.

In honor of Hope Week, Advisor Sherri Porter and Weber High School’s Hope Squad in Utah helped bring a powerful vision to life by hosting a Wellness Fair that welcomed nearly 800 community members for a night of connection, resources, and fun.

From coordinating 30+ community partners and a keynote speaker to creating space for meaningful conversations around mental health, the event made a lasting impact.
