Rewoven Therapy Weaving together the complex threads of life's pain, goodness and desire in order to develop a more connected, whole self.

Did you know that the most important factor in therapy being helpful to you is simply whether or not it’s a good relational fit between you and your therapist? It’s true! The most recent research is showing us that the goodness-of-fit is the best indicator of whether therapy will be helpful and healing to you. ⁣

For folks that have found a great fit in therapy - what was the most helpful part of the finding process for you? When I first started going to therapy, I got a referral from a friend who had known me for years - and that referral literally changed my life 💛

I have to introduce you to my kitties, Birch and Luna. It’s not a stretch to say that these two adventurous fur babies teach me and my husband to be better humans every day. They teach us curiosity, play, REST, boundaries (😂🙌🏼), individuation, mindfulness. And they give the sweetest most regulating cuddles.⁣

Shout out to all the other fur babies in the world who are helping their humans be more calm and loving 🙌🏼💛⁣ do you have a furry family member that helps you do life better? 💛

The harm that happens at the hands of someone who was supposed to be safe and loving is an incredibly wounding betrayal. This is true of sexual or physical abuse perpetrated by a family member or partner. And I believe this is also true of spiritual abuse.

Spirituality is one of those most intimate parts of our person. So for folks who had a very deep faith and sense of loyalty to god, the leaving of that faith due to traumatic experiences is highly painful—partly because of harmful doctrine (“unforgivable sin”), but in large part, because there was genuine belief that was shattered.

What I feel most passionate about is coming alongside individuals who have experienced this particular pain, because of how isolating and terrifying it can be. In my work with clients who have experienced spiritual abuse, there is no requirement to “arrive” at a certain place spiritually. There are no expectations to be “found” if all you feel is lost. ⁣

Your journey is yours, and you deserve a witness in your journey who can sit with your pain and not feel the need to tie it up in a neat bow of recovered faith. You can’t be somewhere that you’re not. For clients who continue to experience spiritual shame as a result of spiritual trauma, my hope is that over time you will develop an increased capacity for self-acceptance and honesty in your spirituality, which ultimately paves the way for self-acceptance and honesty in all other aspects of life. ⁣

About the name Rewoven!

In my own therapy journey, I often experienced the weaving together (integrating) of the young parts of me that had been wounded and lost their voice. The ongoing work of that integration helps me advocate for my needs, awakens my desire and creativity, and brings me a sense of connectedness and meaning in life.

While we work together, I hold in mind that your story contains many unique and complex threads. Our goal will be to weave those threads together into a tapestry of Self that holds healing, structure, and meaning, ultimately freeing you to bring your creativity to the world in the fullest way possible.

The name itself I owe to a dear friend of mine who suggested it to me, knowing my love of all things yarn and the symbolic way that I experience life in this world. (Thank you, Lindsay!)
