This is ultimately why I closed my Practice. Blood clotting issues are a contraindication to Massage Therapy. I will not work when I cannot decipher who may be dealing with this. As well, I refuse to take a chance at creating a hotspot in my community for this virus. I hope that clears it up for anyone who may question my choice or think I am living in fear. So grateful for Ruth Werner who wrote this article. She is a gem in our Profession.

Picture this: A person infected with SARS-CoV-2 is making blood clots. Gazillions of them. All over their body. Some are tiny, blocking the capillary supply to the skin and organs. Others are big enough to cause heart attacks, strokes, and pulmonary embolism.

I am officially closing my Massage & Bodywork Practice due to issues involving COVID-19. I have been shut down since the end of February. Please check your email if you are a client. This was an extremely difficult decision initially however as the weeks have evolved there are some characteristics of this novel virus which make it extremely clear that Practicing would be grossly negligent.

First and foremost, the possibility of thrombi (blood clots) in even otherwise asymptomatic people is a contraindication to massage and under the circumstances nearly impossible to screen for with an intake. There are other considerations too.

It has been an extremely heartbreaking decision in every way but I can take comfort in knowing I am making this decision ultimately with my client's wellbeing at the heart of it. Just as I do with every decision I make in the treatment room, every day I practice.

Thank you with my whole heart to those clients who have entrusted me with your care. You made my first year of Practice in Cambridge so fulfilling. No matter what the future holds I will carry those memories of the sessions fondly. Stay safe! Please visit here when you can for future developments of possibly reopening at a future date.

Reaching out to my Clients and letting you all know that my practice continues to remain closed due to my concern of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and the mandated closure of services such as Massage & Bodywork. This is an unprecendented time and one that ushers in uncertainty, fear, stress, and grief. As well, like many of life challenges it also delivers friendship, love, clarity of priorities, and a deep sense of unity. It calls us to live from that known, felt awareness that is our center. As many who have worked with me as a client know, the work I do not only works with musculature and tissue, but it facilitates an awareness of your inner wisdom, your own leading light. We all have it. When you strip away the ego, fear, and emotion that inner light is always there burning, never extinguishable. It is there that we are all called to live from at the moment. We are being stripped bare of all pretense, all distraction, all extraneous thought or turmoil. We are being called back to our true nature. Back to that awareness many of you have felt while receiving and actively participating in the sessions we have had together. You can call it up at any time without me there with you as witness. Close your eyes and it is right there with you. Let it guide you through the challenges of these coming days. Let it give you peace during these days filled with possible fear or grief. Touch base with it each day as you wake up and before you close your eyes to sleep. Let it bring you back to yourself and your humaness and your heart every day. I miss you all and the work we do together. While I can't be there with you hands on working with your musculature I am here with you in Spirit riding the waves of this rough Ocean. Let us all be each other's life rafts leading with our hearts. Until I see you, wishing you wellness as this all unfolds.
