Menopause Awareness Month

October is also Menopause Awareness Month, a time dedicated to educating the public and promoting support for individuals going through this natural life transition.

Menopause marks the end of a woman’s menstrual cycles and occurs when the ovaries stop producing estrogen. This transition includes three stages: perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Common symptoms may include hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and cognitive changes.

If you are experiencing symptoms or have questions about menopause, we encourage you to contact our office to schedule an appointment with one of our providers. We're here to support you through every stage of this journey with treatment options including hormone replacement therapy.

October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day 💙💗

This meaningful day honors the lives of babies lost during pregnancy and infancy and acknowledges the profound grief experienced by families affected by such loss.
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. At Jasper OB/GYN, we recognize the deep heartache and emotional toll that pregnancy and infant loss can bring. Please know that you are not alone—we are here to support you with compassion, understanding, and care.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month--Support, Awareness & Early Detection

A breast cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming — but you’re not alone. At Jasper Obstetrics & Gynecology, we are here to support breast cancer survivors, those newly diagnosed or currently undergoing treatment, and anyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.

We are also dedicated to educating women about the importance of early detection and routine screenings. Breast awareness is a crucial first step — we encourage all women to look, feel, and check their breasts regularly, and report any changes to a healthcare provider. ¹
Screening Guidelines (for average risk):
• Start annual clinical breast exams by age 25¹
• Begin annual screening mammography at age 40
• Screening recommendations may vary based on your personal and family history, so it's important to review them regularly with your provider.

Early detection saves lives. Schedule your routine preventative exam today to discuss the most current breast cancer screening guidelines tailored to you. 📞 Call us at 812-481-2229 to schedule your appointment.

Did you know that ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in women in the United States, affecting 1 in 55 women? September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and JOG would like to spread awareness. This type of cancer often times may cause non specific symptoms or sometimes no symptoms at all and unfortunately there is no good screening test, including routine GYN exam or pap test. Risk factors for ovarian cancer include family history and inherited gene mutations such as BRCA. If you or your family member have risk factors, please call our office and schedule an appointment to discuss with one of our providers.
