A big thank-you to the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut (BIAC) for hosting the Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) training, led by Bonnie Meyers and Jordin Soler (former Project Genesis ABI Program Director 💙🙌).

We’re so proud of our staff —
Victoria Grenier, Tenzin Youdon, Daniele Wiley, and Prajwal Acharya for completing this three-day course and deepening their expertise in supporting individuals with brain injury.

Wishing them the best of 🍀luck on their CBIS exams — we’re cheering you on! 👏

We are proud to offer another Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) training this fall. Led by CBIST trainers Bonnie Meyers and Jordin Soler, the three-day course wrapped up earlier this week after guiding a dedicated group of professionals through the Brain Injury Association of America curriculum and strengthening their knowledge and commitment to improving the lives of individuals with brain injury.

There was great engagement, lots of learning, and plenty of fun along the way!

Wishing all participants the very best on their exams and in their pursuit of becoming nationally certified brain injury specialists. Thank you for trusting us to guide you along the path to certification.

🌟 RISE Program Community Partnership Spotlight 🌟

We’re excited to share that Hampton Inn in Enfield is partnering with our RISE Program to host a Trial Work Experience! 🏨💼

A trial work experience allows individuals we support to explore jobs of interest, gain hands-on experience, and identify both their strengths and areas where they may need additional support.

During this process, a RISE job coach works alongside each participant to help them:
✅ Establish natural supports with the employer
✅ Learn daily work routines
✅ Try out different skills on the job site

While this service isn’t designed for immediate hiring, it provides valuable insight for both the participant and the employer. At the conclusion, our team provides a report with recommendations for future services and goals.

We’re grateful to community partners like Hampton Inn who open their doors and help create inclusive opportunities for meaningful work exploration! 💙

The federal government has announced that no new SNAP benefits will be issued in November.

✅ SNAP benefits issued before October 31 can still be used in November.

Last week, Project Genesis Mentor, Cece led an informative and interactive workshop on voting and the election process. Students and mentors learned all about registering to vote, understanding local, state, and federal elections, and ways to get involved in shaping our communities.

🌟 RISE Program Success Spotlight! 🌟

In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re celebrating one of our RISE participants who recently secured a custodial position with the Town of West Hartford, CT 👏

This milestone marks a wonderful step toward greater independence and community inclusion.

Our RISE team supported this success by assisting with the application, follow-up process, and interview preparation, helping ensure a smooth path to employment.

A huge thank you to the Town of West Hartford for being so open, collaborative, and supportive throughout this process — partnerships like these make all the difference! 💼✨

🌊Happy Friday from our ABI crew!
A group took a trip to Mystic Aquarium — and what an unforgettable day it was!

From meeting beluga whales up close to enjoying sea lion shows and ocean exhibits, everyone had an absolute blast. 💙

Moments like these remind us how powerful connection, laughter, and shared experiences can be.
