Did you know that 66% of heart disease-related deaths can be linked to food choices?

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Many risk factors contribute to your risk of developing heart disease, but diet has been shown to play a role. The best way to prevent heart disease is to eat various foods from all food groups.

There is no one ‘magic’ food to lower our risk of developing heart disease, but there is some evidence that some foods are important for heart health. These include oily fish (such as salmon), fruits and vegetables, and nuts (like almonds).

Adverse drug events (ADEs) are far too common, and their impact is undeniable. Most ADEs are preventable, meaning providers can reduce them to improve their status in the care network.

Medication errors often happen during the process of administration, documentation, transcription, prescription, and dispensing. Understanding how and when providers can intervene will help reduce the potential for ADEs and improve outcomes when they occur.

Join us on Thursday, 7/28 to learn more about the costs associated with ADEs and how your facilities can prevent them – register for the webinar here: https://base10.info/3NHDsAz

Heart disease is a serious concern for all of us, especially for people in nursing homes. For these individuals, heart disease is the leading cause of death and often results from chronic, progressive conditions that are difficult to treat.

Nursing home residents with chronic cardiovascular disease are frequently referred to emergency rooms during episodes of acute exacerbation and many are eventually hospitalized. Many medications that are commonly prescribed to treat such disease states have outcomes that may be influenced by a patient’s genetic makeup.

Join next week's webinar: "Understanding Cardiovascular Disease Through a Different Lens with Precision Medicine"! BASE10 subject matter experts will discuss how your genes affect heart health and the implications of pharmacogenomics on cardiovascular medications.

You may be surprised to learn that you're not as healthy as you think.

In a recent study, researchers found that many Americans overestimate the healthfulness of their diets. When asked to rate their own diets, almost all overestimated how healthy they were. Researchers asked participants to rate their diet as excellent, very good, good, fair, or poor. Then, the researchers compared answers to see how well responses to the exercise matched up.

The disconnect between how people think about themselves and how they actually eat could have major implications for health outcomes such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease in America—which are already at epidemic levels.
