Free for all current ** full time George Brown College students **. Space is limited.
You can’t predict when someone will be aggressive or hostile toward you. Learn types of aggression, and take a trauma-informed approach toward the situation, de-escalate, and how to take self-care after the incident. Learn physical self-protection techniques on the second day of training.
This is a course that spans **two days**.
Day 1 (theory — conversational style): Saturday, February 22
Day 2 (self-protection): Sunday, February 23
You must attend both days to be certified in UMAB.
A lunch break and rest breaks are scheduled during both training days.
If you work with the public, you need to attend this training. All current full-time students are strongly encouraged to attend.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, and participate in discussions. You will get out what you put in.
All participants who successfully satisfy the requirements will receive a UMAB certificate after receiving both days of training — Day 1 Theory, and Day 2 Physical self-protection.
