đ Hey WakeMed, what were you like in the 90s? đ
Dial-up internet, VHS tapes, and Blockbuster nights. đźâ¨ While the world was hitting rewind⌠we were moving health care forward.
Built on a strong foundation that began in 1961 as Memorial Hospital of Wake County (now WakeMed Raleigh Campus), the 90s became a defining decade of growthâCary Hospital opened in 1991, followed by the launch of Wake Countyâs first comprehensive rehab hospital. The momentum continued with the WakeMed Foundationâs start in 1994, the WakeMed Heart Center opening in the mid-90s, and in 1997, the addition of the Childrenâs Emergency Department and Cary Hospitalâs Womenâs Pavilion & Birthplace.
The 90s were all about progressâand today, weâre still evolving to care for every generation. đŤ
