The facial nerve CN VII (cranial nerve 7) runs extremely close to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
So there is a high probability of this nerve being affected by issues around the TMJ such as:
✳️misalignment
✳️tracking” problems with the mandible
✳️compression in and around the TMJ due to clenching, dental work etc.

Are you easily disturbed by background noises?
CN VII innervates the smallest muscle in the body - the Stapedius.
Stapedius protects the inner ear from high noise levels, primarily the volume of your own voice!
It regulates the volume of sounds above and below a certain frequency.

So if you’re struggling to hear what someone is saying in a noisy room - look at CN VII.
Look at TMJ.
