This fall, 25 Carle Health team members received Bridge to Nursing Education awards, opening doors to new possibilities in their nursing journeys. For one recipient, just beginning her path in nursing, the award was more than financial support; it was a lifeline. With other grants out of reach due to limited funding, this gift meant she could finally afford her essential book bundle, scrubs, stethoscope and the tools she needs to succeed. Thanks to the compassion of our donors, her dream of becoming a nurse is now within reach, and her burden is a little lighter.

Over the past two months, the Women’s Legacy Circle has truly embodied the spirit of generosity and leadership. Members and Carle Health leaders came together in October to honor Vanessa Faurie for serving as chair for the last two years and welcomed Anne Hall as the new chair.

At the giving circle’s final gathering of the year last night, these remarkable women awarded $82,000 in grants to nine transformative projects. Individual members went above and beyond, personally funding additional projects and raising the total awarded to nearly $120,000.

We’re grateful to all members for their unwavering commitment to making extraordinary healthcare a reality for families across Champaign-Urbana and beyond. Learn more about giving on our website. https://carle.org/giving/give-today

With such promising students at Methodist College, it’s important to provide the best resources, facilities and learning environment to help them thrive. In our Simulation and Clinical Practice Centers, students receive hands-on training with advanced technology, helping these future caregivers develop critical skills before their clinical rotations. Gifts to the Greatest Needs Fund at Methodist College ensure these centers remain at the forefront of healthcare. We’re excited to announce Dr. Joe Couri and his wife, Linda, as our 2025 Cornerstone Award honorees in Greater Peoria. Dr. Joe, a retired rheumatologist and lifelong Peorian, dedicated 36 years to Methodist Medical Center. Together, the Couris have supported Carle Health in the Greater Peoria area for over 40 years with gifts of both time and treasure. Their generosity touched Methodist College, Trillium Place and, most recently, the Young Minds Center, helping meet our greatest needs and inspiring hope for the future. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Joe and Linda Couri on this honor.

Last year, the Women’s Legacy Circle turned generosity into action – raising nearly $3,500 to provide brand-new tennis shoes for local kids. At back-to-school events in Danville and Champaign, families visiting the Carle Mobile Health Clinic not only received essential physicals and vaccinations, but children also left with a fresh pair of shoes and big smiles. These simple gifts did more than fill a need – they opened doors for families to access vital healthcare, making every step into the new school year a little brighter and healthier. Much thanks to our incredible Women’s Legacy Circle.

We’re proud to introduce the Biodex Biostep, a game-changer for individuals with limited mobility and special needs. This innovative equipment, made possible by a generous grant from the Women’s Legacy Circle, offers a 90-degree pivot seat that makes it easy for everyone to get in and out; elliptical motion pedals for those with limited knee and hip motion; and a seat belt, ideal for individuals with limited volitional mobility or trunk control, including those with certain neurologic disorders. A huge shoutout to the Women’s Legacy Circle transforming lives through giving.

Last year, thanks to generous donations from employees and a grant from the Women’s Legacy Circle, we established the Carle Health Employee Crisis Fund in the Champaign-Urbana area. Now, every Carle Health region has one of these vital funds. In just one year, we provided over 100 grants, totaling nearly $129,000 in financial support to our amazing team members. These grants help our team members focus less on bills and more on delivering transformational care to our patients.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Greater Peoria community, the Adolescent Health Empowerment Program at Hult Center for Healthy Living is making a real difference – improving health outcomes, access to care and health literacy among local youth. Through classroom education, one-on-one health coaching for at-risk adolescents, and training for medical students and residents, we’re giving young people the tools they need to navigate their healthcare needs. It’s amazing to see our community come together to support the next generation.

As you prepare for winter, please consider donating your gently used jackets and coats, as well as holiday decor and household items, to the Carle Auxiliary Resale Boutique. Since 2012, proceeds from the boutique have supported the Carle Auxiliary Guest House, which relies solely on charitable donations to operate. The Resale Boutique will close its doors December 20, but until then, your continued support means the world to us. Donations are accepted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 810 Lincoln Ave. in Urbana.

We love when donations to our Greatest Needs Funds are put into action. In August, Carle Richland Memorial Hospital distributed $16,500 to benefit patient access and comfort at the Medical Office Building and the hospital’s lab. Grants will also provide funding for community engagement at the annual HealthFest and a green space on the hospital’s campus. Thanks to all our generous donors for making this possible. YOU help us enhance patient care and community well-being.

The 2025 Carle Health Golf Open may be over, but the work has just begun. Thanks to our generous sponsors and enthusiastic golfers, more than $407,000 was raised to enhance emergency and trauma services at Carle Foundation Hospital. Those dollars will help expand the footprint of the Emergency Department and enhance the patient experience for those who count on us. The 2026 golf open will be September 13-14. We can’t wait to continue the tradition.

We’re excited to celebrate the nearly 50 women who took a Swing for Life to support patients with breast cancer in Bloomington-Normal. Since 2017, this annual event has raised thousands for breast health services at Carle Cancer Institute Normal. A huge thank you to these incredible women for their generous donations and for transforming healthcare in our community.
