Standard EMDR protocols don't account for how discrimination, minority stress, and identity-based harm show up in memory networks.
That's not a minor gap. For 2SLGBTQIA+ clients, the experiences shaping their trauma โ systemic marginalization, internalized stigma, identity-based harm โ don't fit cleanly into how we typically target in EMDR. We need a more informed lens for assessment, case conceptualization, and reprocessing.
On May 29, Shaun/Sienna Bries, LICSW, MSW-ITR presents a live training integrating the Minority Stress Model into EMDR across all eight phases.
One thing worth knowing: the morning session is open to ALL licensed mental health professionals โ EMDR Basic Training is not required to attend the morning. If you've been building affirming practice and haven't yet completed Basic Training, you're welcome.
