Reposted from 💥Neuroplasticity in action! And boom there’s an entirely new neural pathway! This new pathway could represent: a new thought process, a new movement, a brand new aspect of physical function. Our Trexo device was created on the basis of the power of neuroplasticity.

🧠Neuroplasticity refers to the ability of the central nervous system (CNS) to modify some of its morphological and functional properties in response to changes in the environment due to focussed attention, which makes the brain compute to make sense of the sensory inputs it’s receiving, rather than simply predict. By stimulating the focussed & attentive brain in a state of urgency, with new knowledge, it is possible to rewire our brains to be capable of completing new challenges.

🧠All the process of neuropsychological rehabilitation are based on the fact that the human brain is a dynamic and adaptive organ with the power to rebuild and balance its development.

🧠The best way to promote neuroplasticity is through task specific repetition. The more you repeat a task, the stronger the neural pathways get, the more instinctive the behavior becomes. In the case of children using a Trexo, the repetition of fluid, rhythmic, gait focused walking allows these neural pathways to form and strengthen with each step. We have seen our Trexo users make incredible motor progress because of the power of neuroplasticity!

What & the impact it has on certain aspects of life is different for everyone.

Research has shown that interventions need to be specific to people's needs and goals. This is so important because what someone with spasticity needs may be very different compared to someone with dystonia. Similarly children's needs are very different to adults.

Federal research funding is essential if we want to continue to advance treatments, interventions and resources for CP. Help us by asking your lawmakers for more funding, more research & more support

Reposted from In the ten months I’ve been running , I frequently hear stories similar to mine. Often families know there is some chance (either great or small) that their child might be born with Down syndrome but the diagnosis is not 100% confirmed until birth. This is the case with Nikki and her beautiful daughter Millie. I couldn’t leave a story like this one out of the birth diagnosis week because they had a 32% chance that Millie would be born without DS. With a percentage so close to 50/50, the shock can still be very real and difficult. But as you will on the grid, Millie has changed them. Millie fills their days with love. And now, a year later, is stronger, wiser and SUCH a force in the Down syndrome community. Check out her story! ❤️
