So our boss got ONE viral TikTok. Just ONE. (Yes, 190.2K and counting views — she knows, we all know. We will never forget.)

Now she’s in her influencer era.
Directing angles.
Approving lighting.
Telling us when to “try that again but better.”

Every video is now a full-on production because we apparently work for a TikTok ICON who has standards. Fame changes people, y’all. We’re just living in her comment section now. 🎬✨

Helping your kids learn to manage social media can be tough. From learning about what's ok and not ok for them to post, to understanding how social media can influence them and how to set appropriate time limits and boundaries for themselves, it's definitely a HUGE learning process for the kids and parents alike. This is a really great resource from the American Academy of Pediatrics that gives parents various "conversation starters" around these topics that can help parents teach their kids about social media.

This resource gives parents and guardians ideas and examples to help start conversations with tweens and teens about technology, social media, and video games.

Hey Associated Pediatricians families! Here's what's out there right now!
--Influenza A: This continues to make its rounds in families throughout "The Region". This illness gives your kids sudden onset of high fever and is generally accompanied by cough, headache, sore throat, and body aches. While the latest respiratory data from Lurie Children's shows us that we're thankfully past the busiest part of influenza season, given the number of positives we're still seeing in our office, we're definitely still seeing sick kids with this illness
--"Stomach flu": Over the weekend Dr. Campbell got numerous calls from families with children with vomiting and diarrhea, and our nurses manning the phones agree that the "tummy bugs" are definitely out there still. Your greatest defense against the stomach flu is washing your hands and helping our kids to do the same. If this illness hits your own home, keeping your child hydrated is the single most important piece of getting them through the illness. This link shares some great information on helping your child through a stomach bug. https://www.nationwidechildrens.org/conditions/vomiting
--CROUP: Does your child have a hoarse voice and a really "barky" cough. Those symptoms are the hallmark of croup and we're hearing that "bark" frequently in our office.
--"Colds": The basic nasal congestion, cough, and sometimes fever is certainly prevalent as well. A small minority of the kids that we test with these symptoms are testing positive for covid, but levels in our community are relatively low right now.
We also want to give a big shout-out to science this respiratory season! For our office, and in pediatrician offices throughout the country, it's been a very quiet respiratory syncitial virus (RSV) season. RSV usually causes a lot of illness this time of year in young infants. Now, though, with a big majority of young infants getting the RSV vaccine, the rates of this respiratory virus have been dramatically reduced this year. We are incredibly grateful that these young infants are protected from this virus!!

Keep washing those hands, covering those coughs, and vaccinating your kids! Stay healthy, friends, and remember that we're here if you need us!

✨ Did you know? We save same-day sick appointments every single day for our patients!

When your child is sick, their medical home is the best place to be seen—and we work very hard to make that happen. While urgent care can feel quick and convenient, what’s often missing is child-centered care from pediatric experts.
Here at your child’s medical home, your child is seen by providers who:
• Know your child’s medical history
• Specialize in pediatric care (kids aren’t just little adults!)
• Focus on what’s best for your child, every visit
When your child needs care, we’re here—and we do our best every day to get every child seen that needs our care! 💙

Here for children and parents when they need us, day or night, body and mind, for over 50 years!

Dear teen girls, stand strong... 💜
1. Remember, It's NOT About You
Most mean-girl behavior comes from insecurity, jealousy, or their own hurt. That doesn’t excuse it, but let it remind you: you’re not the problem.

2. Mean Girl Situations Spike in Middle School
In elementary school, life is just simpler. By the time middle school rolls around, it’s all about vying for position in the hierarchy of popularity. No one wants to be at the bottom of the hierarchy; everyone “wishes” they could be at the top, and most kids end up somewhere in the middle. And, everyone, no matter where they fall in the hierarchy, has a burning desire to fit in -- ESPECIALLY mean girls. And... they'll stop at nothing.

3. Don’t Let Her Words Define You
You might hear things that sting, she might try to make you feel left out or "less than," but that's not your truth. Stay true to yourself. Don't let her words shake your confidence. Don't relinquish control!

4. Cast a WIDE Social Net
The wider your social circle, the less chance one mean girl will shake your confidence. Focus on surrounding yourself with friends who care about you and love you just the way you are. The ones who make you feel better, not worse.

5. Find Ways to Boost Your Confidence
Get involved in hobbies, sports, or activities you enjoy that build your confidence. The more confidence you have, the less anyone will be able to pull you down.

6. Protect Your Softness
Being kind in a cruel situation isn't a sign of weakness... It's a sign of strength. Walk away with your head high. You don’t need to fight to prove your worth. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is not play the game. She's looking for a reaction... don't give it to her.

Parents, I've written a whole post about mean girls. If you want me to send it to you, direct message me and I'll shoot it over to you! 💜
