At our beloved retreat, the bee of the mind is utterly engrossed in the presence of the Divine. Daily we practice techniques of peace that nourish our blossoming community. Although the pollinators of Northern Michigan are going to bed for the season, our bumbling souls continue to cultivate the pure nectar from within.

🧵 How to Weave Meditation into Daily Life Retreat
📅 November 7–9, 2025

Each time we enter meditation, we touch a stillness that quietly transforms the way we move through life, the way we speak, act, and see the world around us.

This retreat is an invitation to carry that stillness into the flow of daily living. Whether you are new to meditation or have practiced for many years, this weekend offers space to deepen your practice and recharge in the peace of nature and spiritual community.

We are deeply grateful to welcome Naren K. Schreiner, a dear friend of Song of the Morning, who will lead this Golden Lotus Retreat. A disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda for more than thirty years, Naren spent fourteen years as a monk in the SRF ashram before continuing his life of service and spiritual support to individuals, families, and communities throughout the U.S. and Mexico. He now serves on Song of the Morning’s Spiritual Life Council, sharing wisdom and devotion that beautifully reflect Yogananda’s teachings.

As Paramahansa Yogananda reminds us, every day can be a day of gratitude for the simple gifts of life. ✨

Gratitude is found in the quietest moments.
The river flowing past the Boathouse.
A smile shared between friends.
The stillness of reflection.
The presence of the Guru in our hearts.

Each moment is a reminder to pause and give thanks. 💛

What are you feeling most grateful for today?

Though the occasional frosts of Northern Michigan are bringing the cold and quietness to our garden, the blossoms within our souls are vibrant and singing unto God the warmth of gratitude. The community of kindness that Song of the Morning holds for each and every one of us is ever expanding, joyfully making way for our hearts to bloom and spreading the nectar of the soul to all beings.

In October, Song of the Morning hosted the annual Paramahansa Yogananda Retreat, lovingly curated by students of the Golden Lotus School of Yoga. Their theme, “Sacred Stories: Yogananda’s Teachings in Hatha Yoga,” beautifully wove the timeless wisdom of sacred tales into yoga practice and daily living.

Throughout the weekend, participants reflected on stories such as Two Frogs in Trouble, King Janaka and the Oil Lamps, The Fish Story, Brother Bhaktananda’s Story on Affirmations, and Prince Siddhartha Becoming the Buddha.

The retreat included mala bracelet making, Hatha Yoga, meditation, a nature walk, and the creation and return of a nature mandala to the river — all surrounded by the beauty of autumn at the Ranch. An uplifting kirtan filled the lodge with devotion and joy.

The weekend was filled with laughter, connection, and heartfelt moments of growth. Friendships blossomed, and many left inspired to carry Yogananda’s sacred stories and teachings into their daily lives.
