AMAZING!!! No dialysis?? Hope for the future is here!!
One year ago, Tim Andrews made history by receiving a genetically edited pig kidney. This week, he made history again. ⭐️
He is the first person in the world to receive a human kidney after living with a pig kidney, receiving a call on January 12th that a human kidney was available for him at Mass Brigham Hospital in Boston. 🤗💚
The pig kidney kept him alive and off dialysis long enough to give him strength and time. When a near-perfect human match became available, he was ready, and is currently preparing to be discharged to his home in New Hampshire.
This is the promise of xenotransplantation. Not just replacing dialysis, but buying time, preserving health, and creating a path to a longer life.
Science is moving forward. Hope is no longer theoretical. It’s happening now. Congratulations Tim, from all of your fans at the Kidney Group! 👏🏼👏🏼
