DOVE Transplant - Living Kidney Donation for Veterans

DOVE Transplant - Living Kidney Donation for Veterans DOVE's mission is to find, educate, support and match living kidney donors to Veterans in need. DOVE stands for Donor Outreach for Veterans.

DOVE believes in the power of community engagement to help remedy the kidney donor shortage for all. We are a nonprofit organization that serves as a "matchmaker" - raising awareness about Veterans who are waiting for a lifesaving kidney donor and connecting them with potential donors (friends, family, anonymous) who want to help. Once donors contact us, we provide them education and support throughout the evaluation and surgery to enhance their experience and ensure any expense is fully covered. Many of our donors, Veteran recipients remain connected with our growing community and stay on as volunteer mentors, advocates to continue raising awareness about lifesaving organ donation. DOVE is based in NJ however we serve Veterans throughout the US.

Congratulations and a heartfelt THANK YOU to DOVE Donor Team 82 (part 1) Dana donated yesterday UC San Diego Transplant Center. She will be discharged home tomorrow and she reports everything went great. We thank her wife Alicia for being by her side throughout and nursing her back to health during her recovery.

Dana has chosen to be an advanced donor through NKR. There is a recipient on the east coast who was very hard to match - but Dana was her "needle in the haystack" Because Dana donated within this NKR exchange, a female DOVE Veteran will be getting a "payback" living donor kidney in the near future.
What a blessing for all.
Thank you you to Dana and all , and and

DOVE was cheering for Seattle Seahawks to take the championship. We have a special connection - Head Coach Mike Macdonald's dad, Hugh, is a Veteran and a part of the DOVE family.

Hugh shared his need to find a kidney donor publicly with a big assist from the Seahawks media channels and many donors stepped up. But Hugh advocated for other Veterans as well:

"Veterans do so many things for our country, here's a way people might be able to pay it back to the many veterans who are in need, I want to make people aware that there are ways that you can help other people that you might never even know about and give a tremendous gift. When you do that, the lives you impact and improve and help, you can't imagine the difference that makes."

Hugh received his living donor transplant in October, 2025 and is doing great. (Thanks to Samantha!) Also - we are excited to share that one of the donors who came forward for Hugh, has decided to donate to another Veteran. She is scheduled next month! Thank you Hugh and Thank You Seahawks !

Big Congratulations from all of us at DOVE on this LX win!

Today the 4th DOVE transplant in January is underway!

Rudy is a who learned about DOVE from a story on dual living donor and

(This is now the 2nd person who donated and was inspired by Lindsay's story!)

Rudy lives in the Atlanta area but he wanted to donate directly to a Veteran who received his medical care in Washington DC. Through the National Kidney Registry, a direct - remote donation was coordinated.

Rudy's kidney is probably enroute right now to DC.

We pray for a swift recovery for Rudy and a safe and successful transplant surgery for Brian.

Thank you Rudy for your generosity and taking care of a fellow Veteran in this most special way. Thank you to Rudy's wife who has supported his decision along the way and is his primary support. Thank you to the transplant teams and programs that are saving lives every day.

We are off to a great start as we are celebrating the first week of 2026 with THREE DOVE

In DC Lisa donated to help her brother brother, Don a . In Boston, Joanne donated to help her brother, Joe, also a USAF Veteran. While in Minnesota, Marla, donated to help her neighbor's dad, Ed who is a .

All three ladies were able to donate because of . Their kidneys were matched to someone within the registry pool and in return, Don, Joe, Ed will soon get their "payback" kidney donor transplants.

We hear all three donors are doing well. We send our love, gratitude, and best wishes to them as they recover.

We thank their families, caregivers for their support. We appreciate the transplant teams and exchange programs that pull all these elements together and save lives everyday.
