Federal protections for students and adults with disabilities are in crisis.

Recent layoffs at the Department of Education have gutted the offices responsible for enforcing IDEA, Section 504, and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act); laws that ensure access to education, civil rights, and vocational rehabilitation.

Without adequate staff, the Department cannot meet its legal or moral obligations to millions of students and workers with disabilities. Congress must act now to restore staffing, leadership, and oversight before decades of progress are lost.
