Mojave Watershed

Mojave Watershed Welcome to the Mojave River Watershed Group! What is MRWG? What is stormwater pollution? Why is stormwater education so important to High Desert residents?

MRWG is an organization dedicated to educating the High Desert community (the City of Hesperia, the City of Victorville, the Town of Apple Valley and other unincorporated areas of the County of San Bernardino) about stormwater pollution prevention. Stormwater pollution, resulting from urban runoff, is a serious issue and is the single biggest environmental threat to the quality of our rivers, lakes and other local waterways. It can have a detrimental effect on public health and harm the well-being of local wildlife. Stormwater pollution is unique in the High Desert due to its geographic make-up. Our watershed flows directly to the Mojave aqueduct which is the direct source of our drinking water. Protecting this precious resource for yourself and your family is vital to our High Desert community. The good news? Stormwater pollution is preventable. Through simple measures, we can reduce stormwater pollution and keep our communities clean. It is up to us to preserve the essence of the Mojave Desert. Learn more about us and how you can get involved at www.mojaveriver.org.

"Coffee Break" is the ’s way to gather High Desert business leaders for coffee, conversation and connection. The Mojave River Watershed Group had the honor of speaking at one of their Coffee Break meetings this past Friday, talking about how our organization helps to educate the community about how they (and their businesses!) can do their part in preventing stormwater pollution. It was a fantastic morning filled with community and connection. We’ll be back!

Today is World Wildlife Day 🌎🐾 Wildlife isn’t somewhere far away – it lives right here in the Mojave River Watershed. The desert tortoise, coyotes, critters and barn owls all depend on healthy habitats and clean water to survive.

When trash, oil, pet waste and litter enter storm drains, that pollution flows directly into our waterways, threatening the lives that call our watershed home.

Protect their home. Keep our watershed clean. 💧

Until you turn on the tap. 💧

Until it rains. 🌧️

Until pollution shows up downstream. 👇🏽

The Mojave River Watershed provides our drinking water and is home to wildlife and native plants. What happens upstream affects us all. 💧🌵

What an awesome day at the Innovators High Desert Water Summit! 💧

We loved meeting so many curious, engaged students, sharing what protecting the Mojave River Watershed is all about. Between great conversations, learning moments and tons of giveaway prizes, our booth stayed busy all day long.

By the end of the summit, 86 students stepped up and took the pledge - that’s 86 new Stormwater Troopers to help us protect our local watershed. 🙌

Thank you to all the students and teachers who stopped by - it was a blast meeting you!

Ever wonder where rainwater goes after it hits the street? 🌧️
It becomes stormwater – water that can pick up trash, dirt and chemicals along the way, carrying them straight into our Mojave River Watershed. 💧

Want to see how stormwater moves through our cities and what pollutants can end up in our water?
Check out our Enviroscape video on YouTube to learn more! 🎥🌿 Link in bio.
