Dog of a the Month Darla !!!

Talk about a glowup ⭐️

Darla came into Burlington County Animal Shelter in Westampton right before Christmas—emaciated, anemic, and declining quickly. Within 48 hours, she was at serious risk of being euthanized.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of BFF Dog Rescue NJ and BrickTown Veterinary Hospital, she was given a chance. She fought hard through critical care and slowly began to recover.

This month, she completed her board and train program at B.A.R.K.—and she is a completely different dog! She is now confident, stable, and thriving both mentally and physically.

Huge credit to her moms for stepping in when it mattered most and investing in her future early - Darlas life is completely changed because of all of these amazing people and we are so happy to have been part of her journey!

Adopt Tokyo❤️

Tokyo is a *BIG* (80+lbs) neutered 2 year old GSD/Malinois Mix is looking for his forever home! Tokyo bonds quickly and hard with his handler, and has a super sweet demeanor when comfortable. He was pulled from Euthanasia in an overcrowded california shelter and has been in basic training to see if he has potential for service work which we quickly saw he would be better suited for the pet life.

🩶 low drive, especially for his breed
🩶walks nicely on a leash
🩶 knows his basic commands (sit, down, place) and starting e collar conditioning to be off leash.
🩶Quiet and clean in his kennel
🩶UTD on all vaccines and on prevention.

Tokyo doesn’t seem to enjoy other male dogs but we are continuing to evaluate him with female dogs the longer he is here - he has had neutral interactions with females in the past

If you’ve been interest in Lily but the no other animals turned you off we have great news - through lots of training and socialization here she is with another dog !

She’s fully trained - no resource guarding of toys And was a superstar in her dog social today ! She is now eligible to be placed with another medium to large Breed dog

ADOPT BB!

BB is thought to be between 5-6 years old. She is the sweetest mix of livestock guardian breeds. She’s been around goats, sheep and chicken. She adores being loved on and would be happiest in a home where she can live in the house but still have some land or a backyard where she can romp in.

BB was organically trained for service work but doesn’t enjoy all the public access. She would be great for someone who wants a dog that will just fall right into your lap or at your feet. She’s a big flopper and soaks up all the attention she can. She’s lovely with dogs and cats of all ages, sizes and temperaments.

Peaches is a 2 years old mix breed sweetie pie. She loves everyone she’s come across and is looking for her forever home.

❤️Full basic obedience (sit, down, place, heel, recall)
❤️ E-collar trained

❤️ LOVES toys
❤️ Up to date on vaccines
❤️ Moderate energy level (Loves lounging on the couch after running around)
❤️ Fully crate trained (clean and quiet)
❤️ Loves car ride and wearing sweaters

We have not had her around any children yet but we believe she’ll do great in a house with older kids or a home with young children that are dog saavy just due to her lack of exposure. She really is the sweetest girl in the world and will be a great addition to any family.

Not all socialization is good socialization.
Unstructured dog parks and chaotic “free play” can actually create reactivity, fear, and poor social habits.

At B.A.R.K., our Puppy Social is intentional, structured, and trainer-supervised to build healthy social skills from the start:

“I’d like to nominate Rocky for home for the holidays. Rocky came in as a stray 2/8/25. A certified letter was sent to his owner, and they refused to reclaim him. He was adopted out to an older man 4/25/25 who returned him 2 months later because Rocky was just to strong for him to control.
Since then, Rocky has had no interest. In the kennel he is very energetic and for a 70Lb dog that looks scary to the average person. He is very strong on leash and hard to walk so only experienced walkers take him out, but they love his goofy personality.
With a bit of training Rocky would be a great addition to an adult household. He plays very rough and is clumsy so a family with kids just isn’t a fit for him right now. He is very over excited when meeting new dogs which also lessons his chances of adoption.
Given his length of stay and lack of manners his name has come up for behavior euthanasia but I truly think with just a bit of polish Rocky could get a second chance”

Rocky has only been here 5 days and through our incredible network today he claimed his home for the holidays ! He will finish his full training program and be ready for his very own stocking this year 😭❤️

This is our why - we are well beyond 20 dogs saved from euthanasia at this point. Way to go trainer Sean for taking on this boy !
