We installed two wallcoverings for a client last week. There's a beautiful faux grasscloth on an accent wall in the living room and a peacock vinyl wallcovering by a company called Love & Design.
This is our first experience working with their products. The material is a good vinyl, sturdy and colorfast.
The only issue we had is the way they sell their material, it's by the piece/panel instead of by the roll. You order this material based on the wall height. So we had the client order her material in 96 inch pieces, which would have given us an extra 4 inches per drop for cutting and trimming at the ceiling and base.
The first set they sent would have required us to decapitate all the peacock heads at the ceiling line all the way around the room! Whoever set up the printer didn't take into account the pattern repeat and trimming the material to fit :/
We spoke to the manufacturer, explained the situation and they sent new material, adding an extra couple of feet which allowed us to position the peacocks so they didn't lose their heads!
Whoever is setting up their printers should take into consideration the pattern repeat, but the new material had the same start point, right at the top of the peacocks head.
If anyone is ordering material from companies that are selling their materials by the drop, with a large pattern repeat, order a yard more than the minimum, to allow for pattern placement.
Better still order from a manufacturer who's been making wallpaper for a while, like Thibaut, York, Brewster, Schumacher. They sell their materials by the bolt, 27 to 33 foot long. Much better use of materials.
Thibaut has been the most consistent in the quality of their materials and have been producing wallcovering for over 150 years.
