CAPE Coalition Substance Misuse Awareness, Prevention and Education Coalition on the Iron Range of MN
PCN Grant Funded

The Chemical Awareness, Prevention, and Education (CAPE) Coalition is a group of professionals and community members from around the quad cities’ region working to address the entire continuum of health around substance use, from prevention through recovery. We work together to raise awareness, correct misperceptions regarding use rates, increase education, and reduce stigma that may inhibit recovery. We see the good that exists in our communities, and work to grow it.

Mark your calendar for THIS SUNDAY to join Thrive Family Recovery Resources at Marco Theater in Virginia for a viewing of "Together: Family Recovery." This powerful documentary shares the stories of families walking through recovery side by side, showing the strength that comes when we heal together. It’s a story that captures the heart of what we believe at Thrive: that recovery is possible, and it’s even stronger in community.

We’d love to fill the theater and celebrate this incredible film surrounded by friends, family, and supporters.

We had a GREAT time at the Minnesota Prevention Resource Center's annual Prevention Program Sharing Conference last week in Duluth. Networked with so many fellow prevention professionals and heard lot's of great breakout sessions. On Tuesday, our fellow CORE students joined us and did some learning and networking of their own. We love any opportunity to collaborate with our youth.

πŸ‘ Rock Ridge CORE Students on the Move! πŸ‘

Our CORE students attended the Minnesota Prevention Program Sharing Conference in Duluth β€” the state’s only conference focused on primary prevention of substance misuse. 🌟

They represented Rock Ridge incredibly well, connecting with communities, prevention coalitions (including our own CAPE Coalition), and state and local organizations all working toward a healthier Minnesota. πŸ’¬πŸ€

During lunch, our students even took time to plan upcoming prevention events for our schools and community β€” true leaders in action! πŸ’šπŸΎ

Funding for their participation was provided by DHS BHA through the PCN grant.

Some of our coalition members at the fall Positive Community Norms training the last 2 days. What a fantastic way to welcome our newest member, Kacey, who represents United Way of Northeastern Minnesota. We are so excited for the work to come over in Hibbing in addition to continuing the work at Rock Ridge and within the Quad Cities. Thank you The Montana Institute for another great get together.

CTC Coordinator Kayce Halek attended a Positive Community Norms (PCN) Retreat this week, hosted by The Montana Institute, and connected with local changemakers in education over the impact a positive framework can make to decrease substance use within our community.

Special thanks to our friends at Rock Ridge Public Schools for the invitation!
