CAPE Coalition Substance Misuse Awareness, Prevention and Education Coalition on the Iron Range of MN
PCN Grant Funded

The Chemical Awareness, Prevention, and Education (CAPE) Coalition is a group of professionals and community members from around the quad cities’ region working to address the entire continuum of health around substance use, from prevention through recovery. We work together to raise awareness, correct misperceptions regarding use rates, increase education, and reduce stigma that may inhibit recovery. We see the good that exists in our communities, and work to grow it.

Important to be aware and recognize the risk associated with high-potency THC consumption. If you or someone you know has an abnormal reaction after consuming THC, call Minnesota Regional Poison Center or seek medical care right away.

The Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) is alerting cannabis consumers to avoid consuming Beezwax brand disposable 2.5-gram vapes and 1-gram h**p prerolls manufactured by Kooka LLC due to product mislabeling and THC content above the legal limit.

Products were distributed in Minnesota to both cannabis dispensaries and h**p retailers, including to***co and h**p/CBD stores. These products may have also been sold directly to consumers over the internet. These products are not compliant and therefore pose a threat to the health of consumers. Consuming more THC than intended could lead to unexpected adverse health effects. Individuals with existing health conditions may experience a greater risk for adverse health effects.

Contact your health care provider or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 if you become ill after consuming these, or other cannabis products. A product recall was issued by OCM and can be found on their webpage along with additional details related to this alert. https://mn.gov/ocm/consumers/consumer-advisories/index.jsp?id=1202-730450

Cannabis (also known as ma*****na, w**d, pot) is not a harmless drug for teens. The teen brain is still developing until the mid-to-late 20s and cannabis can interfere with this development.

The amount of the main mind-altering chemical, THC, is considerably stronger than previous years. The increasing strength of cannabis is leading to higher rates of addiction and mental health concerns.

Just because something is legal does not mean it is safe. Cannabis use carries real risks for our youth, just as alcohol, to***co, and other drugs do. It is important that we provide accurate facts to support healthy decision-making about any drug use.

Our coalition members are attending some pretty cool community events! Way to go, Fairview Range

Last week, our Peer Recovery Specialist, Crystal Goggleye, attended the Bois Forte Mid-Winter Pow Wow on behalf of Fairview Range and the Indigenous Healing Circle (IHC), an M Health Fairview Employee Resource Group. She connected with community members and shared substance use education and resources.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to support and engage with the communities we serve!
