Nobody tells women this…
During perimenopause, fluctuating estrogen doesn’t just affect your mood or cycle — it affects your immune system and inflammation levels too.
Estrogen and histamine have a two-way relationship.
• Estrogen can stimulate mast cells to release more histamine.
• Histamine can also signal the body to produce more estrogen.
So when estrogen starts fluctuating (which it absolutely does in perimenopause), histamine activity can increase.
And excess histamine can mean:
→ Increased inflammation
→ Swollen sinus passages
→ Pressure behind the eyes
→ Post-nasal drip
→ Feeling like you “always have allergies”
→ More frequent sinus infections
This is why some women in their 40s suddenly start struggling with congestion and sinus pressure — even if they never had issues before.
It’s not random.
It’s hormonal inflammation.
Now here’s where support matters.
Instead of only reacting when infection sets in, we can support drainage, circulation, and calming the inflammatory response.
For some women, ear candling can feel supportive as part of a holistic sinus-care routine. While it is not a medical treatment for infections, some clients report:
• A sense of pressure release
• Improved ear comfort
• Temporary relief of congestion
• Relaxation of sinus tension
Because sinus pathways, lymphatic drainage, and the ears are interconnected, supporting one area can sometimes help the overall feeling of head pressure.
I always remind women — this is about supporting the body, not forcing it.
Other foundational supports still matter:
• Nervous system regulation (stress raises histamine)
• Gut health support
• Liver support
• Reducing inflammatory foods
• Lymphatic movement
Perimenopause is an inflammatory season for many women.
But we can calm the terrain.
If sinus issues have increased since your hormones started shifting, you’re not crazy. Your body is communicating.
And there are gentle ways to support it 💛
