When developing an IEP, emergency planning matters. How will your child respond to alarms, evacuations, or lockdowns? Noise-cancelling headphones may be essential for regulation, not optional. Is there a clear plan, assigned support, and practiced routine? Do you know the alternative evacuation site? Are you familiar with your district’s ERIP (Emergency Response and Intervention Plan) or ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate)? Every child deserves a plan that ensures safety and support in every situation.
