Cervical Mucus: What is it, Different Types & What It MeansFertile mucus, present around ovulation, is clear, slippery, and stretchy (like raw egg whites) to help s***m survive and travel. In contrast, infertile mucus, typical of the rest of the cycle, is thick, sticky, or creamy, creating a barrier to s***m. Monitoring these changes helps identify the most fertile days for conception.

Timing:
Fertile: Occurs in the 3–5 days leading up to and including ovulation (highest estrogen).
Infertile: Occurs immediately after menstruation and after ovulation (high progesterone).
