Self-compassion pause 💫

Put your hands over your heart, take a deep breath in, feel the warmth of your hands, and gently breathe our.

Repeat after me: "May I be patient and kind to myself."

Repeat this until you feel it, embrace it, and believe it.

Is there something heavy on your heart that you are beating yourself up about?

🤍 Give yourself a little grace, and save this post for when you need a little reminder.

I like to oat, oat, oat...finish that song.

🥣 Baked protein oatmeal:

One packet or serving vanilla nutrimeal or nutrimeal free.

1 cup pureed mango

1tbsp chia seeds

1 cup oats

1/2 cup shivered almonds

1/4 cup shredded coconut

1 tbsp vanilla granola butter

1 tsp maple syrup

Pinch of salt

Mix together- bake at 350 degrees 40-45 minutes

Enjoy!

I'm loving finding new ways to incorporate nutrimeal by usana into recipes. Fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals, what's not to like?!

How do you get your protein daily?

Today's affirmation: I honor my body and mind with rest so that I can awaken as my best self. 💫

In honor of feel good Friday, and having a snow day in Lil Rhody, I want to talk a little bit about rest.

Forms of rest include:

Physical
Mental
Sensory
Creative
Emotional
Social
Spiritual

Good rest, rest that refreshes and reinvigorate us, is the type of rest that acknowledges, and addresses the source, and nature of our fatigue.

Sometimes we simply need to do less to find some sort of restorative peace among our mind + body.

What types of rest above will you honor going into the weekend?

Be good to the skin you're in- you'll be wearing it for the rest of your life. 🤍

What does your clean skin care routine look like?

Here is my routine at a glance: Wash, serum, vitamin c, eye cream, face mask (3 times a week), facial (every other month)- repeat

I am embarrassed to say, there once was a time that I fell asleep in my makeup (eek)!
I won't make that mistake again.

I am loving the newest addition to my routine which is
charcoal scrub + mask.

This exfoliating scrub + mask gently exfoliates with pollution fighting charcoal, provides 24 hour moisture with a botanical fruit extract blend called olivol, detoxifies, smoothes, and brightens.

Did I mention it's also paraben free?

So, if you are looking to rid your routine of harsh exfoliants, and come over to the the softer side- look no further.

I'd love to hear your clean skin care routine! 👇

🌟 22 things to do in 2022🌟

1. Start each day with gratitude
2. Stop doing things that no longer serve you.
3. Create a habit of daily movement (this could be as simple as a walk)
4. Eat when you're hungry (not when a clock tells you to)
5. Invest in experiences rather than things
6. Get enough sleep
7. Drink enough water
8. Volunteer, give back to a cause and it will give back to you.
9. Laugh more (don't take life so seriously all of the time)
10. Tell everyone you care about them just how much, life is way too short.
11. Get outside, nature is a master healer.
12. Take time off from electronics (TV, computers, social media).
13. Make a phone call rather than a text (this is beneficial for both the caller and receiver).
14. Leave the past behind. We all have heavy baggage that can weigh us down, identify it , unpack it, start healing, and move forward.
15. Do something fun everyday.
16. Do something unexpected for someone that they can't repay you for.
17. Be mindful. Presence is a present. Take in all of the small moments.
18. Meditate. I know it can be difficult to sit still at first. Start small with 5 minutes at a time.
19. Read more. Even if you find just 10 minutes at the end of the day. Never stop learning.
20. Eat slower. Stop rushing through every moment. Take time to enjoy your meal and enjoy who it is with.
21. Create a list of goals and take one small action daily to achieve them.
22. Last and most importantly, be happy. Whatever that looks like to you.

How are you honoring the needs of your body? ✨

Listening to your body and honoring it's signals are important aspects of self-awareness and self-love.

Does it need love, rest, movement, or nourishment?

4 ways to connect with your body:

1. Respect it-
think about it, and speak to it with love and care. Commit to replacing negative thoughts and self-talk with gratitude. Pick a part of your body that you love- relish in your strong legs that you carry you, your eyes that see the world, or your smile that touches so many around you.

2. Connect mind + body-
Utilize slow breathing and touch. Find a quiet place, slow your breathing, and place your hand over your heart. What is your body telling you? Are you tired, achey, tense?

3. Ask it what it needs-
What does your body need to feel good now? Tired- take a nap. Restless- take a short walk. Stiff- try stretching. Take action and soak up what your body needs.

4. Ask it about long term needs-
Do you need to start exercising again, do you need to forgive yourself for something, do you need to create boundaries around your time and space?
Commit to taking small steps everyday until they become habits, and eventually evolve into a routine.

Remember, let your body be your guide.

🌟 Save this post for when you need a little reminder to listen your body, after all it knows you best.

Forget the rigid diet + exercise schedule post holiday. 🎄

Focus on what feels good.

If you are finding it difficult to get motivated, listen to your body.

Rest
Rest
Rest
And
Rest some more...

Then, find time for gratitude, mindful movement, and food that nourishes the body and soul.

Lastly,
Don't be so hard on yourself if you fell out of your routine. Give yourself time and space to slowly, and intuitively invite healthy habits back in.

Happy Sunday + Happy Holidays ❤

A detox is an opportunity to give your mind and body a break, and reinvigorates your bodies own self-healing properties. 🍓

This week I embarked on a 5 day detox, facilitated by .

I wanted to mitigate bloating, fatigue, and brain fog that I'd been dealing with for the past couple of months.

While this was meant to be a cleanse. I did it more as a detox consuming, fruits, beans, veggies, soups, and nut milk.

My experience was amazing. I did suffer from migraines, especially in the beginning (but that is something I already deal with). The first couple of days I was tired. But I never felt overly hungry. The juices were delicious and filling and I supplemented in between.

Walking was my only exercise, as I wanted to conserve my energy. I did get my period on day 2, and I have to say my symptoms were way more manageable then usual.

Happy to report, I feel energized, my bloating has subsided, I am down 4lbs, and no more headache!

Benefits of detoxing may include:

Boosted immune system

More energy

Digestive relief (relief from constipation)

Resolved headaches, fatigue, bloating.

If you have done a detox or have questions about detoxing, please share them in the comments. I'd love to connect! 👇

Do you ever try to shrug off uncomfortable feelings, avoid them, or even dull them with harmful substances such as alcohol, or with instant gratification such as food?

I'm here to tell you are not alone.

💛 Here are 5 ways to welcome your feelings and be able to sit with them:

♡ Take a breath: pause for a moment, slow down, and recognize this feeling. Remember it's okay to just pause in order to evaluate.

♡ Practice mindfulness: This is a way to slow down and restructure you thoughts around difficult emotions. Think of an activity that makes you feel calm. A walk, journaling, creative expression, etc.

♡ Practice self-compassion: instead of judging yourself for feeling a particular way. Sit back and approach those feelings with curiosity, ask yourself why you maybe feeling that way, and give yourself a moment to unpack them. Then give yourself a break, and be kind.

♡ Talk to others: finding someone you trust to have an open conversation with about how you are you feeling can help you process strong emotions, and make you feel like you aren't alone.

♡ Give therapy a try: talking with a friend or family member can make a big difference, but if you are still feeling like your emotions are an obstacle, therapy can be a major help. Therapy is a great way to welcome unbiased support to help sift through, and understand why these feelings are coming up.

💛 Which one of these have you adopted or plan to adopt when a tough emotion arises?

Did you know that the food you eat comes in second place behind what actually "feeds" you?

Don't get me wrong it is important to eat a well balanced diet full of whole foods, fruits, and veggies.

But, primary food is so much more than what's on your plate.

It's what encompasses your days...

A thriving career, a robust social life, a connection to something bigger, new love, a creative side gig...

Do you remember a time when you were so high on life that you didn't have time, or forgot to eat?

Maybe there was a time when you were a kid and your parents expected you in the house for dinner, but you were having too much fun to be hungry. So, you did everything in your power to stay out just a little bit longer.

Feeling depleted, go there. Back to that time.
Nourish yourself with experiences.

Think relationships, social life, creativity, spirituality, career, physical activity, home life, education, home cooking, health...

When your primary food is in balance, the food that you eat becomes secondary, and then they both can come together in harmony for a life that is full and satisfying.

Tell me, what is currently lighting you up inside (primary food)? 👇
