Building a strong milk supply?

Here’s the golden rule: Start with a primary pump before going hands-free! It’s essential to use a reliable primary pump to kickstart and establish your breastmilk supply. Wearable pumps are fantastic for convenience but are better suited once your supply is well-established.

My client did not see milk transition until Day 5 with multiple underlying concerns (4 to be exact) and multiple healthcare professions telling her she may not make milk and she would have to pump aggressively.

But there was this one lactation consultant (me) that believed in her and encouraged her every step of the way that she could do it.

Her child went from exclusively formula fed to exclusively breastfed since Day 7.

This is a reminder to keep pushing above all odds you think are stacked against you and find someone who believes in you.

If you want to feed your baby from your body on your own terms and in your own way, we are here to assist.

Did you know that fresh milk transferred without any temperature changes preserves the most nutrients. When you can, you can do this. I know this is not ideal in every situation, but I recommend feeding fresh milk whenever possible.

When you refrigerate then warm up or use froze, then thaw then warm up goes through multiple temperature changes. Again, we know it’s not possible to feed fresh in every situation, but you can try it when you can do it.

Have you tried pumping and feeding one bottle ahead and sitting on counter as long as next feed is before 4 hours? Let’s talk about it in the comments.
