The 4th of July marks 247 years since our founding fathers declared our nation’s independence from Great Britain. Let this day remind us that true equality and liberty have yet to be attained by all people. NCNW will defend and protect our freedoms and hold America to her promise of ensuring our”inalienable rights” of “life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness” are not obstructed. 💜

We — Black and Brown people —radiate beauty and splendor with our regal, professional natural hair styles. Join us as we celebrate National CROWN Day commemorating the signing of the CROWN Act law in California on this day, July 3, 2019. Today, it is the law in 23 states and 50 municipalities and prohibits race-based hair discrimination and the denial of employment and educational opportunities based on hair texture. We urge other states and Congress to follow suit to help end hair discrimination.

Sharah' Denton of the Valdosta Section of NCNW was the first State of Georgia President. Denton is the City of Valdosta's first African American Public Information Office and serves as a mentor to many young women. She is a champion for NCNW and has incorporated many national initiatives locally and in the State of Georgia, including establishing an NPHC/NCNW Human Trafficking Collaborative and Mental health focus groups for minorities. The 7th National President and Chair, Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole, selected her as our National Health Equity Chair. She beautifully represents the millennials in and out of NCNW.
