When is Your 25X GGF also Your 26X GGF?
Wait, what?
We had a fun find this week on a client's family tree, where one GGF was the father of two half brothers, one born of the wife, and the other born of the mistress. The two half brothers grew and married, and several generations down the road their descendants found each other and married. (Far enough down the line as to not be, well, icky!)
We found that both lines ascended from the clients, and then converged at the level of the afore mentioned GGF, but as different generations, which was really puzzling. We traced back down the lines looking for mistakes, and found that a direct downline daughter married a man thirty years her senior, inadvertently skewing the two parallel lines by a single generation. When the lines converged several generations later converged, the common father was the father of two different generations of boys when counting backwards from the client!
Now THAT was worth digging for!
