This week Chief Change Maker, Laura Bray, joined the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies (ASOP) at their All-Hands Annual Meeting as a Focus Topic Speaker.

The presentation titled, "Online Sales and Drug Shortages," highlighted the link between patient access and safety issues during drug shortages. Patients deserve reliable access to safe essential medicines, when and where they need them. We must not fail them!

The will require internet registrars and registries to enforce their existing policies and be a part of the solution of protecting consumers online. For too long, bad actors have taken advantage of public fears and loopholes to endanger the health of Americans by selling illegal drugs over the internet. Thank you to Sens. Marco Rubio and Amy Klobuchar for their leadership in introducing the bill.

Fake and illegal drugs sold online by criminals threaten public health and have dangerous, sometimes deadly, consequences. Consumers should have confidence that goods purchased online are safe. The would , making the internet more transparent by requiring marketplaces and websites to verify high-volume sellers and provide consumers with their contact information. The bill will allow law enforcement to hold bad actors accountable for their actions and remove counterfeit, dangerous products that cause public harm.
