GRCycling Classic The Herman Miller Grand Cycling Classic brings world class pro bike racing to the historic bricks of downtown Grand Rapids.

On Saturday, July 28, 2012, the 6th annual Herman Miller Grand Cycling Classic will hit the bricks of downtown Grand Rapids. For the 2nd consecutive year, the Herman Miller Grand Cycling Classic will host the USA Cycling Men's Pro Criterium National Championship, where scores of pros representing nearly every US-based pro team—including hometown favorite Bissell Pro Cycling—will compete for honors in one of the nation’s premier pro cycling events. The event will also feature the Grand Cycling Challenge Ride for cyclists of all abilities, the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Kids’ Race (free, for kids 9 and under), an elite women’s pro/am NRC race, and a series of men’s amateur competitions.

Fortunately, the mysterious appearance of tacks on the course throughout the day had little impact, other than a short delay in the start of the Challenge Ride, as participants discovered scores of tacks on Fulton. Again, tacks were found on Ionia during the amateur races, but in all, they were cleaned up upon discovery, and had no impact on racing, other than a flat or two. Shimano tech support reported no more than an average number of flats during the day.
