ICYMI: Food insecurity doesn’t always mean going hungry — it can also mean not having access to nutritious food. At Cleveland Clinic, leaders see nutritious food as more than high-quality fuel for your body.

“We look at food as medicine and we look at food as something that we can engage communities around,” Vickie Johnson, Cleveland Clinic’s executive vice president and chief community officer, told the AHA’s Advancing Health podcast. “It’s easy to understand that at the foundational level, everyone needs access to food, but it needs to be good food.”

It’s Good News Tuesday!  Read about the amazing accomplishments of our members, including researchers at in Seattle, who are leveraging both machine learning and synthetic protiens to counteract the damaging effects of snake bites; nurses At in Knoxville helping a bride make sure her mother got to see her wedding; and HealthONE Rose Medical Center, where dogs are helping provide emotional-support to the medical staff (the hospital’s CEO, Casey Gruber, is such a fan of the canine connection that he even has his own dog, Ralphie, who holds the title of Chief Dog Officer).
