CPR Party After the near death drowning of her 3-year-old son, Laura Metro started CPR Party™ (a program of We were in Bethany Beach, DE on vacation/dog sitting.

As told by Laura Metro, the founder of CPR Party (formerly The C.L.A.Y. Foundation)...

"Around 11AM on June 18, 2011 my 3 year old son Clay almost died by drowning in a community pool. Our friends were watching he and our 6 year old daughter Maison, while my husband and I took my father's dog on a jog. We arrived on the scene to our daughter running out of the pool screaming, "I think Clay died!" "I think Clay died!" My husband and I ran into the pool to find Clay, laying on the pool deck, blue, lifeless, with no breath or heartbeat. Our friend was doing "his version" of CPR, pretty much what he'd seen on TV. The paramedics arrived. They got his heart beat back, intubated Clay on the scene, shot IVs into his knees and started hypothermia treatment. Clay and I were medivac to Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. My husband and our friend who performed the CPR drove two hours in silence from the beach to the hospital. Clay was in a coma for two days. The good news is, he made a miraculous recovery and is a healthy 7 year old boy! According to the doctors we "dodged a bullet." This is not the typical ending to this story." Since its inception in 2012, CPR Party™ (formerly The C.L.A.Y. Foundation) has made a significant mark on the child drowning circuit by hosting the DC area’s first ever World’s Largest Swimming Lesson and launching their one hour program on a national level. This year, they've set their goals high and made their flagship CPR training format, the CPR Party™, the sole mission of the foundation. They will continue to raise awareness of childhood drowning through their nationwide public relations efforts and membership in the Families United To Prevent Drowning Coalition and the partnership with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission campaign, as they have become an official partner of the .

My heart is full is so many ways. Please check out National Drowning Prevention Alliance for shareable tools to spread the critical messages that parents and caregivers need to know NOW while the summer is in full swing. XOXO, Laura
