In December, we not only supported a record 160 patients but also facilitated transportation assistance for 5 patients through a pilot with one of our clinic partners.

Our practical support funding—which might cover gas cards, bus tickets, lodging, childcare, and other vital needs—addresses the extra hurdles to care that many patients face, particularly as they journey long distances to obtain abortion services.

Across the country, sexual and reproductive healthcare—including abortion and gender-affirming care—is under attack.
Today, Illinois takes another step forward for healthcare access and reproductive rights with the launch of the Prairie State Access Fund—a true public-private partnership.
By bringing together leadership, community, and courage to expand access to care, Illinois sends a clear message: it trusts people to make their own decisions about their bodies and their healthcare.

Why I Give:
"My mom volunteered at an abortion care provider when I was growing up in the late 1970s, but I didn't understand the relevance of that work until I was much older. Supporting RTF is an honor and a privilege at this time in our nation's history. I hope that supporters of reproductive autonomy will see RTF's critical role in this struggle and join me in supporting this important work."
- Helaine E. Resnick, PhD, MPH

On this day, in 1973, Roe was decided. While there are countless reasons it was still difficult to have an abortion under Roe, it established a legal baseline for abortion access in the U.S.

Today, in a post-Roe world, abortion access is not guaranteed—but we’re fighting harder than ever to make it real for everyone who needs it.
