As a mother trying to change the world and raise kind children, I am facing a lot of hard things. But I'm learning from the toughest winters: you don't just watch the freeze. You chip away at it, relentlessly, to protect the people you love and prepare for spring.

This is for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the cruelty in our world. It's a mother's call to move from heartbreak to determined, daily action. Using the metaphor of an especially icy winter, here are five concrete, powerful things you can do right now to stand against harmful immigration policies and support your community.

Educators are standing up to say ICE OUT of Minnesota. Every day, her students are sharing stories about their loved ones being taken by ICE. It’s time for us to make a statement and show our solidarity with immigrant communities.

Enough is enough! Email and call your Senator NOW and demand they vote to stop funding for ICE and CBP.
