In November 2025, RAD-AID Volunteer Kelly Hart, MJ, MHA, and RAD-AID Vietnam Program Director, Camron Smith, DO, traveled to Ho Chi Minh City to provide hands-on support and education for hospital staff at University Medical Center (UMC).

The RAD-AID volunteers worked closely with UMC breast radiologists and technologists to improve the standard of care for patients in Vietnam. Trip milestones included hands-on training and didactic lectures combined with an “excellent education conference with approximately 50 local attendees and another ~150 virtually.”

~ Dr. Camron Smith, Program Director, RAD-AID Vietnam

RAD-AID extends our gratitude to Siemens (ASEAN) for their support of this volunteer trip. RAD-AID also thanks our wonderful partners at University Medical Center for their collaboration.

In 2025, RAD-AID ASRT Foundation, Titus Lumumba Kyenzeh, Alichia White, and Kim Rans traveled to Kenyatta National Hospital to work with hospital staff on training.

RAD-AID thanks the ASRT Foundation for their long standing collaboration and support of RAD-AID programs in low-resource regions!

“Together with my outreach colleagues, we worked closely with our counterparts at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) to strengthen collaborative partnerships and advance skills in modern cancer treatment technologies.

This year’s initiative brought together radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists, oncology residents, and radiotherapy students for an immersive, hands-on experience in contemporary treatment modalities

A key highlight of my sessions was spinal radiation planning for Medulloblastoma in both pediatric and adult patients using 3D techniques. CSI planning is often considered one of the most challenging areas in radiotherapy, and I’m proud that we were able to demonstrate simplified, safe, and effective approaches, including a clear step-by-step workflow for the notoriously complex junction feathering process.

We also covered comprehensive treatment planning for breast chest wall with nodal involvement, cervical esophageal cancer, and prostate cases with node involvement. By the end, residents had strengthened their confidence in both treatment-planning techniques and clinical decision-making.

My sincere appreciation goes to RAD-AID International, a global leader dedicated to improving access to radiology and oncology in underserved regions, for granting me yet another opportunity to contribute to this impactful international outreach mission.”

~ Titus Lumumba Kyenzeh, MSc, CMD, PMP

At Medality, our mission has always focused on helping radiologists learn and thrive so they can deliver better care for patients. Through case-based, simulated training and education, we support access, equity, and global health by strengthening the skills of the physicians who serve patients every day.

This year, we wanted to push that mission further. Not only by improving how radiologists learn, but by supporting how radiology reaches people who currently cannot access it at all.

That is why we are proud to announce a donation to RAD-AID International in support of their work to expand access to medical imaging in low-resource regions around the world.

In collaboration with the Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM), RAD-AID Volunteers Tara Granquist and Bonnie Stone traveled to the Midwives of Kingston facility in Kingston, Ontario to train 15 Canadian midwives in hands-on scanning techniques, proper ultrasound equipment care, and other integral ultrasound skills.

Milestones included the completion of POCUS scanning assessments, where all 15 learners passed the hands-on workshop training.

RAD-AID thanks the for the donation of handheld ultrasound devices that allowed our volunteers to provide hands-on training throughout this educational workshop for Canadian midwives.

“Volunteering my time with RAD-AID was an enlightening experience! The midwives left feeling accomplished with the knowledge that this will improve patient care. I’m grateful for this opportunity to be a part of that!”

Bring Radiology to Those in Need

Half the world has no access to radiology. That means no ultrasound for helping babies and mothers; no mammography for breast cancer screening; no x-ray for trauma victims; no CT for cancer staging and surgical planning; no MRI for brain and spine disease; no angiography for heart disease, and the list goes on and on. Radiology is the technological backbone of advanced health care systems for delivering screening, diagnosis, and treatment to patients, but it is the missing hole in the health care systems of developing countries and low-resource areas. RAD-AID started 10 years ago with a simple mission: increase and improve radiology for medically underserved areas. We have grown to be over 9000 volunteers serving in 53 hospitals and 27 countries, and we hope to continue our mission and growth. We bring radiology equipment, training, and sustainable support to hospitals that need radiology for taking care of their patients. We work shoulder-to-shoulder and hands-on with health workers all over the world to bring radiology and medical images to the patient’s bedside. Each RAD-AID program is uniquely tailored to the needs and resources of a hospital and community through our specialized and trademarked Radiology-Readiness Assessment, which is an in-depth data-collection and analysis step for first understanding what radiology solution can make the best impact for a low-resource medical facility. So, our programs are diverse to create those unique solutions based on a data-driven, heart-filled, and perseverant method, which include a mobile women’s health in India, information technology deployment in Ghana, a new radiology residency in Guyana, inter-institutional training of doctors in Tanzania, a new ultrasound for children in Laos, rural ultrasound in Appalachian Virginia, mobile mammography in mid-Atlantic USA, x-ray radiography teaching in Malawi, and MRI support in Ethiopia, as a few examples. RAD-AID believes in creating a creating a special mix of charitable outreach, teaching, and innovation that not only brings greater global health but also brings the world closer together.
