Yesterday, we joined thousands across the nation in recognizing the Great American Smokeout, a powerful annual reminder that quitting to***co is not just possible, but achievable one step at a time. Jamea Hart, Region 8 coordinator for COC, had the honor of hosting our local observance at the Madison Voluntary Council.

Through open conversations, we highlighted the risks of smoking, va**ng, and secondhand smoke—while emphasizing the hope, strength, and resilience it takes to choose a healthier life. Our seniors and community members asked thoughtful questions, shared personal experiences, and explored the many free support tools available through the Southern University Ag Center’s Communities of Color (CoC) program.
