Hey guys, let’s chat! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this page…

As many of you know, I am a teacher! The end of the school year was a whirlwind of planning things for my class and crying off and on for weeks! I absolutely LOVE teaching, but I was so overwhelmed with it that I couldn’t upkeep this page…

Now, let’s get real! The name “Essentially Burnt Out Candle Co.” didn’t just HAPPEN….at least once a year I find myself facing “burn out”! I give give give give give in every single aspect of my life, which I absolutely love doing! But I never pour into myself what I try to pour into others— then I burn out. It’s hard to come back from burn out!!

The name “Essentially Burnt Out” popped into my head when I was talking to my mom about being almost burnt out at work. I was exhausted, defeated, and dealing with so much going on in my personal life. I felt like I was fighting as hard as I could to keep my head above water, and I knew burn out was around the corner…”Hey, that’d be a great name for a candle company!” as I added one more thing to my plate!

During this time in my life, I found myself crying at church every Sunday because being in the presence and goodness of God while everything in life seems to go wrong is overwhelming. I remember worshipping and praying over my situations, and He got serious with me. He said “Why are you trying to do this by yourself? You feel this way because you haven’t given it to me.” WOW! At that moment I knew I had to surrender my thoughts, my situations, my emotions to God, and give Him the reigns because He is the only one who has control!

Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

It was important for me to send a message with the name of my company and with the names of my candles!! The Lord says come to me and you with find rest, peace, joy, etc! Each of my candle names is something we can accomplish if we seek God’s direction in our times of burn out!

He sees you, and He loves you, and He wants you to go to Him in your times of trouble so that He can lift the burden off of you!

The Verse Behind the Name: Find Your Peace

Psalm 23

This passage stands out, personally, as a passage that screams restoration, comfort, and peace! Being outdoors, taking in all of God’s creation, is my favorite thing!

Green pastures, still waters, absence of fear…When I read through this passage I can envision every image, I can feel the peace in my soul when I picture myself here.

God is multifaceted, and here we get an incredible description of the God who provides peace and protection. When I am in His presence I can feel fear wash away, stress be calmed, anger be tamed; I can feel His hand playing a part in every aspect of my life. I notice when I am away from his presence, or maybe haven’t talked with Him for a while, the world around me feels like chaos, and my mind becomes cluttered; I am taken to a place that feels unstable, like I can’t catch my balance.

But when I just mutter the word “God” to talk to Him, He is there because He never leaves. He immediately brings me to the feeling of being in the green pasture, beside the still water, and He restores the peace in my soul. I feel protected, calm, and invincible because my God is guiding me. The more I enter into His presence, the more my cup overflows.

I Find my Peace in His presence.
