NEW blog from Liz Padula, Artemis Yoga Founder & Owner!
✨ 10 Years of Artemis Yoga: A Reflection on Community, Resilience, and Awe ✨

There are many words that come to mind as I reflect on these past ten years at Artemis Yoga. The first is community and the second is awe. I am in awe of this community: our students, our teachers and our front desk customer experience team. I am in awe of everyone who has helped make Artemis Yoga a welcoming gem here in the East End of Watertown. It’s really unbelievable in so many ways.

Back in 2012, I had just come through one of the hardest years of my life, early-stage breast cancer, the loss of my mom, and the loss of my sister. It was a tough year and yoga helped me through that difficult time. It helped me grieve, and it also helped me heal. It gave me energy and a spark of an idea. In yoga we call that “tapas”, a burning zeal combined with the motivation that if you have a passion, you can turn it into a purpose. So, I did.

In these ten years, we’ve welcomed more than 10,000 unique students, offered over 21,000 classes, and hosted more than 40 classes a week. More than a third of our members have been with us since before the pandemic and more than half of our members have practiced with us for over two years. I am consistently impressed by the dedicated practice of our students, most of whom come to class at least eight times a month (and definitely even more often during March Momentum)! The numbers are amazing but what they really represent is dedication, connection, trust and community.

Thank you for your generous donations to our food drive to support the Watertown community! We are continuing to collect donations so if you’re able, please drop off any non-perishables items in our collection bin at the studio.

Here are some words of gratitude from Kathleen Cunningham, Watertown Food Pantry Coordinator:

It has been a whirlwind of a month at the Watertown Food Pantry, as we faced one of the greatest obstacles in feeding our clients that we have encountered.

To our Watertown Community — you always come through for us!  Thank you for all your donations of food! Thank you for all your monetary donations! Thank you for your words of support! Most of all, thank you for always being there for those in our community who are in need of our help. Without all of you, we simply would not exist, and that is no exaggeration — we are 100 percent funded by your donations! Stand up and take a bow — the success of the Watertown Food Pantry  belongs to all of you!

We are all so relieved to have the Government shut down over, and SNAP payments restored to our citizens in need. But, they don’t cover nearly enough, and 800+ families in our community still rely on the Watertown Food Pantry. We are very proud of the work we do, and incredibly grateful to have all of you as our partners! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

Saturday, December 20 | 2-4pm
In studio & online | $50 (10% off for unlimited members)

As we approach the longest night of the year, join us for a practice of deep introspection and inner reflection.

In this class, we'll slow down and turn inward with an unhurried, deliberate flow, including some gentle and restorative poses that invite a sense of calm and serenity.

Class will begin with a brief talk about the winter solstice, a seasonal reading, and a mantra for you to use as you practice. Our practice will conclude with a guided meditation to honor the darkness and welcome the return of light.

✨ Allow yourself to surrender to the quiet of the winter season.

Ever wonder what it feels like to melt tension away?
Join Natalie Tull Greene on Wednesday, November 19 at 7:30pm for a special pop-up ball rolling class using yoga therapy balls.

Yoga therapy balls are designed for self-myofascial release, using high-grip rubber to apply targeted pressure to muscles and connective tissue, helping to melt away tension.
You'll learn how to effectively target common "knots" in your muscles and release tightness.

Come roll, unwind, and give your body a wonderful massage. It's the perfect way to end your day!

Sound Bath with Deep Relaxation, Yin & Restorative with Sheryl Rosenberg
Sunday, December 21 | 2-4pm
In studio only | $50 (10% off for unlimited members)

Join us for an immersion of deep rest and release. During this 2-hour practice, you'll be guided through gentle movement integrating somatics, yin, and restorative yoga to untangle tension and clear stagnant energy.

Sounds of crystal singing bowls, metal bowls, and chimes will fill the space around you with soothing vibrations that will guide you into deep meditation and relaxation.

✨ What is a sound bath?

Just as it sounds, a sound bath involves an intentional immersion in sounds and vibrations. Expect to lay down and get comfortable as you experience the sound waves produced by an instruments' vibrations and frequencies. The harmonious sounds will stimulate alpha and theta brainwaves, which promote a state of deep meditation and relaxed consciousness.

✨ About Sheryl Rosenberg:

Sheryl became interested in sound healing after experiencing her own profound energy shift after a sound bath during a difficult time, and began incorporating sound healing and meditation in her own practice and offerings. In 2023 she learned to play crystal singing bowls through Chiang Mai Holistic Wellness Center and the Soul of Yoga Sound Institute.

Sheryl keeps it simple in her classes. You can expect to slow down, move in a gentle and mindful way, and restore some energy. The hope is that you leave class feeling more embodied, more like yourself, and having learned something you can take with you off your mat.
