Does Governor Kim Reynolds know what’s happening within her administration?

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and Iowa Medicaid Enterprise have issued a sudden reimbursement change (Informational Letter 2714) that threatens access to pediatric and adult speech therapy—especially in rural Iowa, including here at Unified Therapy Services.
Earlier this month, our owners traveled to Des Moines and spent the day at the State Capitol advocating for continued access to speech therapy services for Iowa families. But advocacy can’t stop there—we need your voice.

📣 Please call or email the Governor’s office TODAY and urge her to pause and eliminate IL 2714 until the real impact on patient care can be fully reviewed.

Iowa Medicaid has announced a sudden reimbursement change that directly threatens access to speech therapy services for children and adults across the state — including families here at Unified Therapy Services in Waverly.

Rehab agencies across Iowa are advocating hard to protect access, but we need your help now more than ever.

The Governor is the only one who can pause this policy and allow time to review the impact on patient care, travel-based services, and session length.

If you’ve ever seen our therapists spinning, swinging, or using sound cues with kids… there’s a good chance you’ve caught a glimpse of Astronaut Training! This structured OT program is designed to strengthen three major sensory systems that help children navigate their world:

✨ Vestibular System (balance + movement)
✨ Visual System (how the eyes track and process what they see)
✨ Auditory System (how the brain processes sound)

By combining specific movements, sound patterns, and visual tracking activities, Astronaut Training helps improve how the brain integrates sensory information — which can be especially beneficial for children with sensory processing challenges, ADHD, or autism.

Spinning or rotational movement to activate the vestibular system and help the brain better interpret balance and motion.
