INTRODUCTION TO ZEN MEDITATION

Could you use some Meditation in your life? Have you tried meditating but could use some guidance?

Join us for this free and friendly workshop on Zen meditation.

Zen is a practice of looking into the matter of our lives directly, of investigating the fundamental questions of existence:
-Who am I?
-Why is there suffering?
-Why am I here?
-What is the best way to live in this chaotic world?

In this 2 hr free workshop, we will:
Go over some basic instructions om the Zen approach to sitting meditation (zazen);
Have several opportunities to meditate together;
Have time for sharing and questions.

Date and time: January 24, 2025, 9:30am-11:30am

We ask all participants to wear clothing with subdued colors.
Chairs are provided. If you'd like, bring a mat, blanket and/cushion or pillow.

This workshop is lead by Bro Brian Beckett. A former member of a monastic community, Brother Brian leads the Clear Blue Sky Mindfulness Community that meets north of Waynesville at Woods of Peace Meditation Center. A licensed and certified spiritual director and teacher, he has worked for 35+ years as a therapist and minister, but now focuses his attention on developing meditating communities and going deeper into his own practice. This workshop will begin the foundation for Stll Mind Zen Fellowship.

In contrast, low-fat diets reduce the frequency of gallbladder contractions, allowing bile to become stagnant and overly concentrated.

Launching on Saturday, October 18th 🎉

I will be presenting a six week course is designed to go through the six pillars of health as defined by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. These six pillars form the groundwork for health and wellness. Each week will present a new pillar. There will be discussion surrounding the pillar, goal setting, identification of barriers and ways to overcome barriers, as well as coaching support in a group setting. Individual coaching is also included as needed between the weekly sessions. Each session will end with a 30 minute walk (for those who can stay) around Waynesville to live the pillars of connection and movement. Send me a message or email if you are interested!
