Michelle’s nomination read:

Michelle is the best example of our CARES values. She has gone out of her way and stayed late while we were short staffed and made sure that all of our Iowa Heart patients were called back and that they were not left waiting. Just watching her work shows you that she has a heart of gold and gives every patient her undivided attention. I just watched her with a patient who came in because he needed a refill on his medication, and he was hard of hearing. She was so patient with him and wrote things down for him so he understood everything. She is also quick to make sure that the nurses and even the doctors have everything they need. She is detail oriented and is just amazing at her job.

Michelle, we appreciate your dedication to a great patient experience, compassion and customer service. We are so proud of you and you are very deserving of this award!

A new gathering for those navigating the loss of a loved one, a job loss, divorce or another significant life transition will meet the second Tuesday of each month, starting Feb. 10, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Van Diest Medical Center Hospital Conference Room. The group is open to anyone experiencing loss regardless of faith background.
