Dr. Markarian was born in London and grew up overseas in Cyprus, Singapore, and Thailand, before relocating to the United States at the age of 10. Dr. Markarian speaks four languages – English, Armenian, Arabic, and Greek – and his unique background has allowed him to instantly connect with his patients through an unparalleled appreciation and understanding of diversity. Dr. Markarian understands the delicate interplay between appearance and self-confidence. & : 2 months postop. This lovely woman wanted to breathe better and have a subtle, natural change to her nose 😊.

75% of the swelling comes down after a month while the rest takes 12-18 months. To accelerate the swelling resolution AND reduce scarring, I see patients in the office every 1-2 months for steroid injections to the nose, especially the tip, to further help with recovery time and optimize results.

Full views of this patient’s final results are shown. Also notice how the tip stays in the perfect position even when smiling, on BOTH sides.

The overall goal is to always maintain a natural result... Key maneuvers included a component hump reduction, reverse angulated caudal septal trim, tip deprojection. Thanks for another great meeting. Whenever I run into medical students, residents, researchers, fellows, and new plastic surgeons in practice, these conferences serve as such an amazing reminder of the long path I took to get here. Yes, it’s great catching up with past colleagues, new colleagues, and always learning new tricks of the trade, but at the end of the day, I’m truly fortunate to do what I love… and yes, the kualas and licorice from my Australian colleagues were a bonus 😉

✅ I perform steroid injections every 2-3 months after surgery to make the swelling come down faster and reduce the risk of scarring. It typically takes 12-18 months for ALL the swelling to resolve.
