Marian M. Kreif

Marian M. Kreif, of West Bend passed away peacefully during a prayer on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Cornerstone Assisted Living at the age of 79 years.

Marian was born on September 26, 1946, in Hartford, Wisconsin to John and Iremina (nee Linden) Schairer. She married Richard Kreif on January 30, 1965. Together they raised three daughters: Rita, Esther, and Amy.

Marian began her working life as a live-in nanny for the family of Allen and Myrtle Taylor – where Richard later proposed to her. Throughout her life, she worked a variety of jobs, including Enger-Kress for nearly 25 years, Amity Leather Goods, AmericInn and ended her work life at West Bend Insurance. Marian approached every role with dedication and integrity, often forming friendships that lasted a lifetime.

She and Richard made their homes in Campbellsport and West Bend throughout their married life. Marian was the heart of her family, devoting herself to raising their daughters. Beyond her own children, she became a mother‑like figure to many. She was a loyal listener, a thoughtful advice giver, and someone who could light up a room with her laughter—often laughing so deeply that tears would stream down her face.

Marian’s Christian faith was a source of deep comfort throughout her life. She was a member of several churches over the years, most recently West Bend Community Church, where she found friendship and purpose. She actively participated in Ruby’s Pantry and various church groups, giving freely of her time and compassion.

Marian first encountered cancer at age 50, bravely surviving breast cancer and becoming a pillar of support for others facing similar battles. She participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life for many years, raising significant funds for awareness and research. More importantly, she built meaningful personal connections within the community through her advocacy and empathy.

In November 2025, she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (brain tumor). She faced this with courage and grace. One of her life’s mantras was to “go with the flow,” and she did for the past months. Gracefully accepting her diagnosis and outcome, her new home, and changes that continued to come her way. She never complained, rather was appreciative of all visits and services provided.

Marian is survived by her daughters: Rita Hupfer, Esther (Patrick Popowitz) Kreif, and Amy (Joseph) Grogg; her grandchildren: Spencer (Ashley) Hupfer, Brandon Hupfer, Jeremy Popowitz, Meagan Popowitz, Chloe Grogg, and Kaylee Grogg; as well as great grandchildren. She is further survived by siblings: Ivan Schairer, Virginia Habersetzer, Jacob Schairer, Julia (Gerhardt) Zimdars, John (Kathy) Schairer, and Irma Schairer; along with other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and siblings: Jean, Rose, Robert, and Paul Schairer.

Marian’s wishes were to not have any formal services, which her family has chosen to honor and respect.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Froedtert Hospital, Cornerstone Assisted Living, and Preceptor Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided to Marian.

To honor Marian’s life, please consider performing a random act of kindness to brighten someone’s day – something Marian did naturally and often. Love boldly, smile broadly, laugh loudly, and give generously. Every stranger is a friend in waiting, make a new friend like Marian did often.

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” — Thomas Campbell

Randall E. "Randy" Boeldt

Randall E. “Randy” Boeldt, 74, of the town of Trenton, passed away on February 3, 2026, at home, doing what he loved to do.

Randy entered the world on August 29, 1951, in West Bend, born to the late Elroy and Laverne (nee Krahn) Boeldt. On July 21, 1973, he married the love of his life, Jayne Hoffmann, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, beginning a partnership rooted in devotion and quiet strength.

He was happiest under an open sky, hunting, camping, fishing, or simply taking in the outdoors. If it had an engine, especially a Ford, Randy was interested. NASCAR Sundays were sacred, and Fox News was often playing in the background. A proud patriot, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, carrying that sense of duty with him throughout his life.

Randy was a man who spoke little but loved deeply. He’d drop everything to help someone in need, no questions asked. His motorcycles and Mustangs brought him joy, but nothing compared to watching his grandchildren play sports. Hard work was second nature to him.

He had a soft spot for venison and an even softer one for sweets, Snickers bars and cake were his weakness. Even when he wasn’t supposed to indulge, he’d sneak a treat behind Jayne’s back with a grin that gave him away. His laugh was unforgettable, warm and contagious.

With his long hair and legendary beard, he proudly embraced his “long‑haired hippie” persona, refusing to let anyone near him with scissors. Randy loved his dogs, especially Koda. But above all his passions and quirks, Randy’s greatest devotion was to his family, whom he loved with his whole heart.

Those Randy leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Jayne; three children, Cher (Brian) Birno, Kellie Weber, Justin (Krystal) Boeldt; grandchildren, Pacey Weber, Silas Weber, Kennedy Weber, Landon Birno, Paxten Boeldt, Beckett Boeldt, and Adley Boeldt; step-grandchildren, Dustin Birno and Anthony Birno; a brother, Ron (Dolly) Boeldt; a sister, Sherrie (Roger) Sauter; his in-laws, Jary (Sandy) Hoffmann, Ellen (Al) Cowan, Joel Hoffmann, Dale Hoffmann, and Sally Hoffmann; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Marlis (Gerry “Big G”) Boldt; two brothers-in-law, Daryl Hoffmann and Elmer Hoffmann; his parents-in-law, Elmer E. and Erna Hoffmann.

VISITATION: Randy’s family will greet relatives and friends at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 777 Indiana Avenue, in West Bend, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

SERVICE: A funeral service for Randy will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Bend. Rev. Robert Hein and Rev. Clark Schultz will officiate with military honors following the church service.

Mary Jean Fiegel

Mary Jean Fiegel (Jeanie), was born on March 22, 1954 in Waupun, WI to the late Norbert and Dorothy (Wappler) Fiegel. She passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. She was a resident of West Bend at the time of her passing. Mary was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, WI.

Mary attended Prairie View Elementary School in the Township of Green Lake. She graduated from Markesan High School in 1972. After High School she moved to West Bend and started a job at Cedar Community as an Occupational Therapy Aide. While she changed positions at Cedar Community, she was always involved in the Therapeutic/Activity Department. Mary loved working for Cedar Community and thought she would retire from there but after 35 years of employment there she switched jobs and became director of the activity department at a small Assisted Living Facility. After 8 years there Mary went on to her current job as coordinator of the Germantown Senior Center. She loved this job just like Cedar Community. “Two of the best places on Earth!” During the time that Mary worked for Cedar Community she went back to College at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992. Amazingly she worked full time, part time and took 15 credits per semester, but she finally had her degree. She met many wonderful long lasting friendships at Cedar Community and at the University.

Mary also worked for the West Bend Recreation Department from 1973 to the present time. She started as a Volunteer for the Therapeutic Recreation Dance Class and for Special Olympics. After a year she became an employee of the Recreation Department. She coached many sports for Special Olympics and in 1989 she took on the job of being Agency Manager of West Bend Special Olympics. She loved her athletes and the Special Olympics Organization. In 2002 she was awarded the Roger Kasper Award from the State office for her dedication to Special Olympics. In 1995 she was a World Games Softball coach at Yale. In 1999 she was the Head Coach of Softball for the World Games. She was also a coach for gymnastics at 3 National Games, they were held in Iowa, Nebraska, and New Jersey. There were so many enduring and special friendships because of her involvement in Special Olympics. Mary always thought of this as her life destiny. She loved working with Seniors and Special Needs Persons. As she used to say, “I am very blessed to have jobs that I absolutely love.” I knew in eighth grade I wanted to work with Seniors or Special Ed, never did I think I would get to do both! When funding ended for a job at West Bend Recreation, she continued to volunteer her time so that the program would not end.

Mary was involved from day one of JAM FOR KIDS. This was a music festival that raised funds for Special Olympics. It was a major fund raiser for 40 years. This gave everyone the ability to participate because the fundraiser provided the program free to the participants. Many “musical” friendships made because of this event.

In her spare time, Mary liked to spend time with her nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. Always the fun Aunt with somewhere to go and something to do. She was also known as the aunt who spoiled the kids. Mary liked to play the piano, read, sing, and theatre. She was involved in Spotlight Productions Theater Company for many years both on and off the stage. She also loved listening to folk, 60’s and Irish music. Although she was 100% German her heart was Irish.

She loved to travel and had visited 63 countries and 42 states. She enjoyed meeting new people, seeing new places, and learning history. Mary had several articles published in magazines related to Seniors, Special Olympics and Dying. She spoke at many conferences throughout the United States about activities for Seniors and did lectures on the top of Death with Dignity. She served on many committees throughout her lifetime. One of the committees that was very important to her was a crisis intervention program for deaf persons. She was certified in Sign Language.

She is survived by her brother, James (Charlotte), nieces, Jennifer (Scott Newlon) Fiegel-Newlon, Sara (Hector Cruz) Fiegel Cruz, and nephew, Brian Fiegel. She is furthered survived by great nieces and nephews, Daniel Galindo, Enrique and Ariana Cruz, Morgan and Ian Newlon, also many special friends, family, and the Special Olympics Family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Dorothy Fiegel, a sibling who passed at birth, her fiancée, Michael Kaul, fiancée, Brendan Galvin, and special friend, Bob Cross. A great nephew, Sebastian Cruz and her beloved niece, Brenda Jean Fiegel.

A mingle in honor of Mary will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service (1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend, WI). Following the mingle, a service will take place at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service at 1:00 p.m. with Pam Werth officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials are appreciated to West Bend Special Olympics, 1115 South Main Street, West Bend, WI 53095.
