Social Pediatric Therapy Welcome to Social Pediatric Therapy - Speech Occupational ABA! Below is an introduction to our team, services, and specialties! Stay tuned for more updates!

We are excited to introduce our growing practice in the heart of West Bloomfield, providing essential therapy services for children. At Social Pediatric Therapy, we focus on fostering communication and developmental skills to help children thrive. Meet Our Founders
Amber Yaldo, M.A., CCC-SLP
Amber is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with years of experience at renowned institutions such as Kaufman Children’s Center and Oxford Recovery Center. She holds a Bachelor's in Communication Science & Disorders and a Master’s in Speech Language Pathology from Wayne State University. After stepping away from Kaufman in February 2024, Amber offered free screenings at St. Thomas Montessori, which helped grow her caseload. Now, she leads the therapy operations at Social Pediatric Therapy and continues her mission to support children’s communication and developmental needs. Alexander Yaldo
Alex comes from a background in Hotel Management and Commercial Real Estate, with degrees in Economics and Management from the University of Michigan. He is responsible for all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Social Pediatric Therapy running smoothly—from overseeing renovations and hiring to managing accounting and marketing. Alex and Amber were married in September 2022, and their shared vision has turned Social Pediatric Therapy into a growing resource for the West Bloomfield community. Why Early Intervention Matters
Early intervention plays a crucial role in a child’s development, particularly when it comes to speech and language delays. Research shows that children who receive therapy early on are more likely to overcome challenges and develop essential skills for communication and daily living. At Social Pediatric Therapy, we are committed to providing the highest quality care and evidence-based approaches to help children reach their full potential. If your child is experiencing delays in speech, language, motor skills, or social communication, don't hesitate to contact us. We offer personalized evaluations to identify the best course of action for your child’s development. Population We Serve

Model! In order to request, your child must first be able to imitate! How can you get your child to imitate? Model, model, MODEL! Hold onto an item your child wants, model the gesture or word, wait, and model again! Be patient and remember, you’ll give your child the item after 3-5 models even if they don't imitate. Model without expectation and you'll be amazed at how your child will begin to request!

🗣️Joint attention: Joint attention is what happens when two people are focusing on the same object or event. It's important that kids demonstrate joint attention in order to engage with others and learn communication skills. By opening the Critter Clinic and showing what was hidden inside, your child will notice what's happening.

🗣️Gentle withholding: Gentle withholding is a strategy in which an object or action isn't fully performed until after a pause and chance to communicate is provided. You can provide a pause before opening the doors of the Critter Clinic to encourage your child to request!

🗣️Requesting: For children that already use gestures/words, you can use the Critter Clinic to help them request.

🗣️Object permanence: This is when a child understands that an object continues to exist even when it can't be seen. By hiding objects out of sight behind the Critter Clinic doors then finding it, you can teach your child object permanence.

🗣️Cause and effect: Cause and effect is a play skill that teaches children that to do (or say) something for an event to occur. You can teach this by showing that the key opens the door on the Critter Clinic.

🗣️Imitation: Imitation is how a child copies what other people do and say. You can model a variety of actions (open/shut), communicative gestures (pointing), and exclamatory words (wow!) by playing with the Critter Clinic.

🗣️Following directions: You can target simple instructions such as "open," all the way up to 2+ step directions, such as "First open the green door then open the purple door" with the Critter Clinic.

Of course, the best "toy" to get your child talking is actually YOU! Parents play the largest role in their child's success, so what you do with the toy is much more important than the toy itself!
